247 - Allies of Jair Bolsonaro believe that the Supreme Federal Court (STF) should order, as early as next week, the transfer of the former president to the Papuda Penitentiary Complex in Brasília. The decision, according to the column... Paulo CappelliThe decision, from Metrópoles, is expected after the Court rejects the motions for clarification filed by the defense.

Currently, Bolsonaro is under house arrest and is monitored by an electronic ankle bracelet. According to the report, allies and family members of Bolsonaro believe that the Supreme Court justices see his imprisonment in a closed regime as a symbolic gesture in light of the trial regarding the attempted coup d'état.

Bolsonaro's inner circle speaks of an attempt at "humiliation"

A member of Bolsonaro's family, speaking on condition of anonymity, described the potential transfer to Papuda prison as an attempt to "humiliate" and "wear down" the former president. This perception is shared by close allies, who believe the measure would have strong political implications.

Despite the concern, the group believes that the stay in Papuda prison should be brief. They expect that, in a few weeks, the Supreme Federal Court will reinstate house arrest for medical reasons. The former president is suffering from after-effects of the campaign incident in Juiz de Fora (MG), suffered during the 2018 campaign, and more recently, he was diagnosed with skin cancer.

The Supreme Federal Court (STF) has not yet made an official statement.

When questioned about the matter, the Supreme Court did not release an official position. According to Metrópoles, however, the issue has been debated internally among the justices. One magistrate who maintains contact with Justice Alexandre de Moraes argues that Bolsonaro should remain under house arrest. "If we granted it to Fernando Collor, there's no reason not to grant it to Jair Bolsonaro," stated the justice, emphasizing that both require constant medical monitoring.

Moraes defends special cell in Papuda prison.

On the other hand, Alexandre de Moraes argues that the former president should serve part of his sentence in Papuda prison, in a special cell equipped with a television, air conditioning, and white walls — a structure similar to that of other former presidents.

Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison for attempted coup d'état and four other crimes. His current house arrest stems from his failure to comply with precautionary measures in a parallel investigation into alleged coercion during judicial proceedings.
