Bolsonaro consulted the military about questioning the elections, but did not receive their support.

247 - Hours before breaking his silence about his defeat in the election to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Jair Bolsonaro consulted with members of the Armed Forces about the possibility of challenging the election results in court, alleging that Lula would be ineligible due to the annulled Lava Jato cases. 

According to CNNThe coup attempt was initially approved by one branch of the armed forces and rejected by another, in addition to the Army, which reportedly held the deciding vote against endorsing Bolsonaro's idea. According to the broadcaster, high-ranking military officers in the Brazilian Army are firmly committed to accepting the results of the presidential elections and rule out any possibility of intervention or a coup.

"CNN has learned that the internal assessment is that the elections were conducted fairly and that no fraud was proven in the electronic voting machines. However, the institution is not expected to comment on the matter. The order within the military is that any statement, if issued, will be made through the Ministry of Defense," CNN reports.
