Bolsonaro is attacking democracy, says Batochio.

"When the Executive branch urges its acolytes to seek support not so much for its political line, but to intimidate the other branches of government, it reprehensibly exposes its inability to govern according to the democratic order," writes lawyer José Roberto Batochio in an article.

247 - Lawyer José Roberto Batochio published an article in newspaper The State of S.Paulo in which he warns about the attack against democracy committed by Jair Bolsonaro and argues that, given this fact, he can no longer hold the office of president. Bolsonaro has announced and called on the population to take to the streets on March 15 in demonstrations demanding the closure of Congress and the Judiciary, and this Wednesday, March 11, he even received support from Nazis.

"When the Executive branch urges its acolytes to seek support not so much for its political line, but to intimidate the other branches of government, it reprehensibly exposes its inability to govern according to the democratic order. Such a procedure is typical of governments that have failed to fulfill campaign promises, frustrated voters, and given credence to the opposition, seeking to blame an 'external enemy' for their failure," writes Batochio.

"If the rule was to blame the press, now they are stirring up social media. At this rate, the president's call for his supporters to take to the streets in demonstrations against the independence and autonomy of Congress and the Supreme Federal Court constitutes an attack on democracy that would make Churchill fight again, as he did against the Third Reich," he concludes.
