247- Jair Bolsonaro announced this Thursday (20) that the new government leader in the Senate will be Alexandre Silveira (PSD-MG), who will assume the mandate with the departure of Antonio Anastasia (PSD-MG) to the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU).

During his live broadcast on social media, Bolsonaro was talking about a trip to the North-South railway when he confirmed the name of Silveira, who is currently the Director of Legal Affairs for the Senate. “We're going to invite the Minas Gerais delegation. We have to invite them, right? Invite everyone. Invite the new leader of the government, who will take office in February, Alexandre Silveira, to be with us on a stretch of this railway,” he stated.

Alexandre Silveira confirmed that he received the invitation, but did not confirm whether he would accept the nomination. "I believe the invitation was due to our capacity for dialogue and willingness to discuss projects that are of interest to Brazilians, above any ideology or partisan issue," Silveira wrote on Twitter.

“But, since I am not currently serving as a senator of the Republic, I cannot consider evaluating the proposal at this time. My goal is, with responsibility and hard work, to fulfill a mandate that will make the people of Minas Gerais proud, regardless of governments or ideologies,” he concluded.
