247 - The vote by Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Luiz Fux in favor of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), given on Wednesday (10), strengthened the hard core of Bolsonarism to push for a total amnesty for the coup plotters. The information is from journalist Andréia Sadi, from g1.

Senator Rogério Marinho (PL-RN) presented Sóstenes Cavalcante (PL-RJ), leader of the PL in the Chamber of Deputies, with a suggestion for a "light amnesty," which would only pardon those convicted on January 8th, excluding Bolsonaro. However, the former president's family immediately rejected the possibility. Marinho himself denied the arrangement: "All our public statements reinforce the defense of a broad, general, and unrestricted amnesty," he declared.

The clash between full amnesty and a lenient proposal.

While the proposed law provides for pardons for those investigated since 2019 for attacks on institutions, questioning the electoral process, and inciting political polarization—which would directly benefit Bolsonaro—the alternative defended in the Senate, dubbed "light amnesty," found support in Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP). The Senate president, close to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, believes that the project could reduce the pressure for impeachment requests against the magistrate.

For Bolsonaro supporters, however, the proposal is unacceptable because it weakens the main political objective: to guarantee Bolsonaro's acquittal.

Messages reveal concern about external support.

Intercepted messages from the Federal Police show that Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP) warned his father that the approval of the restricted amnesty could compromise international support, including from the current president of the United States, Donald Trump. "If the 'light' amnesty passes, the last help coming from the US will have been Trump's post. They will no longer help," he wrote.

Eduardo reportedly also emphasized that the group needed to choose between "helping Brazil, stopping the Supreme Court, and rescuing democracy" or simply releasing the January 8th protesters to a semi-open prison regime.

Pressure against congressional leaders

This Thursday (11), Eduardo Bolsonaro's ally in the United States, Paulo Figueiredo, declared to g1 that the only acceptable solution is a "broad, general and unrestricted" amnesty. Otherwise, he stated that the group will mobilize pressure for the removal of Davi Alcolumbre and Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), president of the Chamber of Deputies.
