247 - Eder Rodrigues Boa Sorte, a resident of Sorriso (MT), was prevented by Bolsonaro supporters from taking his nine-year-old son to Cuiabá for eye surgery to prevent the child from losing his eyeball due to an accident at school. "Let him go blind," said one of the Bolsonaro supporters blocking the BR-163 highway, in a coup-mongering act against the victory of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) in the October election.

"I was threatened several times by one of them with a machete. He waved it and showed it to me, telling me I wouldn't pass. He said he didn't care if my son went blind or if the others died, because we were no better than them," Eder said, according to the MetropolisThe boy, who had been waiting for more than three months for the procedure, valued at R$15, was granted the right to undergo the surgery after a court decision.

The family managed to reach Cuiabá on Tuesday (22) in time to carry out the necessary tests for the surgical intervention, scheduled for this Thursday (24), after taking a detour through the region's crops.

"We arrived in Cuiabá via a detour they showed us. I was desperate, because we had tried so many different ways to get the surgery for over two months. The feeling of helplessness at not being able to get through consumed me, and I despaired," Eder recounted.

According to the report, the Crisis Cabinet of the State Secretariat of Public Security carried out an operation on BR-163 on Tuesday to clear blocked sections of the highway. At least 18 points were cleared during the operation.
