Bolsonarism slowed the advance of evangelicalism, says pastor close to Marçal (video)
Aluízio A. Silva, leader of the Videira Church and close to Marçal, stated that mixing the pulpit and politics has alienated the faithful.
247 - In a video posted on social media by the page O Fuxico Gospel, Pastor Aluízio A. Silva, founder of the Videira Church, commented on the data from the new IBGE Census on religion in Brazil and attributed the slowdown in the growth of evangelical churches in the country to Bolsonaro's policies.
"One in four Brazilians is evangelical. Hallelujah! God is good. I hope they will be regenerated, born again. Glory to God for that," said the pastor, celebrating the numbers. However, he highlighted a concern about the pace of growth of the evangelical faith.
"Given the rate at which churches were growing until 2020, the forecast was that by 2032 Brazil would have more than 50% evangelical Christians. I don't know what happened, but the rate dropped drastically. After the pandemic, it dropped drastically," he stated.
According to him, although IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) doesn't specify the causes, the reason is clear: "I'll tell you what the cause is. It was Bolsonarism. When the pastors in the pulpit decided to take a political stance, they closed the church doors to a lot of people," he criticized.
The religious leader, who is close to Pablo Marçal and often mentions the church in his commitments and interviews, as well as attending events and services, emphasized that the problem was not only alienating left-leaning individuals, but also those who "don't want to identify with a political segment." For him, the politicization of the pulpits was a trap: "This is a distraction from evil. Be very careful about that," he warned.
