Barbosa delays sending Genoino to the domicile after consulting the Attorney General's Office.

The President of the Supreme Federal Court officially asks the Attorney General's Office about the request for house arrest made by José Genoíno's lawyers; this gesture, in practice, increases the time the congressman, currently in the Papuda prison complex, will serve in closed confinement; will Rodrigo Janot expedite his opinion?; how long might the clarification of this doubt take?; did Joaquim use typical legal maneuvering to delay granting semi-open confinement to the Workers' Party congressman?

247 - In a move that could be considered, to use a fashionable word in the Supreme Federal Court, an attempt at chicanery, the court's president, Joaquim Barbosa, decided to consult the Attorney General's Office about the request for house arrest made by the lawyers of Congressman José Genoíno.

The former president of the Workers' Party (PT), sentenced to serve his sentence in a semi-open regime, was in a closed regime at the Papuda Complex in Brasília until 19:00 PM. The consultation with the body headed by Rodrigo Janot could, in practice, lead Genoíno to spend at least one more night in prison. There is no deadline for the prosecutor to respond to the consultation.

Late in the afternoon, the Federal District Court announced its decision to transfer those convicted by the Supreme Federal Court, including Genoíno and former minister José Dirceu, to serve their sentences under a semi-open regime.
