Ayres Britto refutes Bolsonaro's "private reasons" claim to refuse to show Covid test results.
"The country has the right to know about the health of its president, especially since it is a transmissible disease and, as far as is known, the president has not undergone any physical isolation," stated the former president of the Supreme Federal Court, Ayres Britto.
247 - Brazil has the right to know about the president's health. This statement comes from the former president of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Carlos Ayres Britto, who considers the decision by the Federal Court of São Paulo, which ordered Jair Bolsonaro to present his Covid-19 test results, to be "legally correct," following a request from the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo.
"The country has the right to know about the health of its president, especially since it is a transmissible disease and, as far as we know, the president has not undergone any physical isolation," said Ayres Britto, in an interview with Estado.
Ayres Britto also dismantled the argument that this is a private matter, as Bolsonaro claims. "In the current global context, the matter does not fall within the realm of intimacy, nor even the private life of the president. The president himself anticipated the collective interest in the result of the examination he underwent by making the fact that he took that examination public," he pointed out.
Bolsonaro has already said that the test results were negative, but refuses to release the results.
