Greenpeace plane crashes in the Amazon, killing one person.

A Greenpeace aircraft crashed on Tuesday morning (17) in the Anavilhanas Archipelago region, near the municipality of Novo Airão, in Amazonas; five people were on board, one died; according to the Seventh Regional Service for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Serpa 7), the accident occurred around 11 am; the plane is a Cessna 208 amphibious model.

Brazil Agency - A Greenpeace aircraft crashed on Tuesday morning (17) in the Anavilhanas Archipelago region, near the municipality of Novo Airão, in Amazonas. Five people were on board, one died.

According to the Seventh Regional Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Service (Serpa 7), the accident occurred around 11:00 AM. The aircraft is a Cessna 208 amphibious model.

The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) has announced that it is initiating an investigation. Photographic records will be taken, parts of the aircraft will be removed for analysis, and witness statements and documents will be collected.

Greenpeace has announced that it is in mourning and focusing all its efforts on providing assistance to the victims and their families. The NGO also said it will cooperate with the relevant authorities investigating the incident.
