Bolsonaro's advisors prepared a "discreet" operation to comply with the TCU's order and return Saudi jewels.
The TCU (Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts) gave a five-day deadline for the items to be delivered to the Presidency of the Republic.
247 - Advisors to Jair Bolsonaro (PL) are considering mounting a discreet operation involving the return of jewels and weapons given as gifts by the Saudi monarchy, but which the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) has ordered to be delivered to the Presidency of the Republic within a maximum period of five days.
According to the newspaper The GlobeHowever, "until Friday, two days after the decision, Bolsonaro's defense said that it had not yet been notified of the decision — the point at which the deadline begins to count."
In its decision, the TCU (Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts) determined that the jewelry and weapons must be handed over to the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic so that they can be incorporated into the assets of the Union.
According to the report, Bolsonaro's team is waiting for the Army to issue a transport permit so that the rifle and pistol, given to the former president by the Saudi monarchy, can be sent to the Planalto Palace – a rifle and a pistol, gifts from the government of the United Arab Emirates.
"The weapons are in a unit of the Army Command, in the Urban Military sector, a neighborhood of Brasília. The jewelry box containing five items (a pen, a watch, a ring, a pair of cufflinks, and a rosary) is stored along with several of Bolsonaro's belongings in a counter rented by the PL, the former president's party, in Brasília," the newspaper points out.
