Realengo killer is buried.
Wellington de Oliveira, responsible for the deaths of 12 children at a school in Rio, was buried in a shallow grave.
Two weeks after being the protagonist of one of the most shocking tragedies against children in the country's history, the murderer Wellington Menezes de Oliveira was buried today in the São Francisco Xavier Cemetery, in Caju, Rio de Janeiro. The burial took place at 9 am this Friday and was not attended by any of Wellington's family members. He was buried in a common shallow grave, according to the cemetery administration.
Two weeks after the attack at the Tasso da Silveira Municipal School in Realengo, no family member of the shooter has come to the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) to claim the body. Since the deadline for the family to claim the body expired yesterday, the IML authorized the burial in Caju.
Wellington Menezes de Oliveira killed 12 children and injured 12 others during the attack at the municipal school on April 7th. After being shot in the leg by a police officer, Wellington killed himself. In a letter released by the Civil Police after the massacre, Wellington left instructions about who could handle his body and how he should be buried. The shooter asked to be buried in the Murundu Cemetery in Rio, next to his adoptive mother, who died two years earlier. None of his requests were fulfilled.
