After playing the victim, Moro promises a bill to punish those who plan attacks against authorities.

247 - After self-inflicted the wound, Senator Sérgio Moro announced this Tuesday (22) that he will present a bill at 16 pm in the Senate. The bill plans to create specific crimes to punish the planning of attacks against public authorities. The legislative proposal comes in response to the planning of his own assassination and that of other authorities who were the target of a Federal Police operation this morning, with nine people arrested so far.

During an interview with Globo News, the senator justified his proposal by claiming that, although the authorities knew about the possible attack since January, "they have to wait for the crime to begin before they can act." He argues that, despite the existing crime of criminal association, it is necessary to protect the task forces and "increase the security of magistrates, prosecutors, and police officers involved."

The senator also mentioned that criminal law does not punish the intention to commit a crime; the offense must involve some concrete action to warrant a conviction, such as the formation of a criminal organization. However, this does not prevent investigations.

Moro has already spoken with the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD), who reportedly showed support for the legislative proposal. His wife, federal deputy Rosângela Moro (União Brasil), was also present at the interview and demonstrated close ties with the leadership of the Chamber of Deputies.

Although he stated that he has been "looking to the future," Moro praised the transfer of PCC leaders to federal prisons, a measure taken by the Bolsonaro government and a possible justification for the attack that was being planned against the senator and other authorities.
