247 - The Ministry of Justice confirmed the transfer of former congressmen Pedro Henry (PP-MT) and Pedro Corrêa (PP-PE) from the Papuda Penitentiary Complex in Brasília to prisons in their home states this afternoon.

According to the ministry's press office, the two former parliamentarians left the federal capital around 13 p.m.

Pedro Henry and Pedro Corrêa are serving sentences of 7 years and 2 months in prison each for their convictions on charges of corruption and money laundering in the trial of Criminal Action 470, the so-called 'mensalão' scandal. Henry is being taken to Cuiabá (MT) and Corrêa to Recife (PE).

As soon as they land, the two will be taken to the IML (Forensic Medical Institute) of their respective states to undergo physical examinations before being sent to prison.

Henry and Corrêa, who are doctors, will petition the courts to be allowed to work outside of prison, according to an article on the Folha de São Paulo newspaper website.

This benefit is intended for prisoners serving sentences in a semi-open regime, as is the case for these two. If authorized by the court, they will be able to leave the prison between 8 am and 18 pm to work from Monday to Friday.

With the former PP deputies, there are now four prisoners from AP 470 transferred from Papuda this week. On Monday (23), former deputy Romeu Queiroz and former vice-president of Banco Rural, Roberto Salgado, were transferred to Minas Gerais.

Yesterday, businessman Marcos Valério asked the Supreme Federal Court (STF) for a transfer to Minas Gerais, his home state. Former congressman José Genoino, from the PT party, who is under provisional house arrest in Brasília, requested to remain at his home in São Paulo until the Supreme Court decides whether or not he will return to Papuda prison.
