      Andrei Passos is confirmed as the head of the Federal Police, and associations hope that the corporation will once again act as a state agency.

      Delegate Andrei Passos was confirmed as the director-general of the Federal Police by senator-elect Flávio Dino, the future Minister of Justice in Lula's government.

      247 - Associations and entities linked to Federal Police (PF) officers, experts, and delegates said they hope that the management of the future director-general, delegate Andrei Passos, will enable the corporation to return to acting as a state body and not a government body, as it did throughout the Jair Bolsonaro administration. 

      Passos' name for the position was announced by the future Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino (PSB-MA), shortly after he was confirmed to head the Ministry of Justice in the government of President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, on Friday (9). The Federal Police delegate was responsible for Lula's security during the campaign and will continue to lead the role during the transition.

      According to the newspaper Valor EconômicoThe National Association of Federal Police Delegates (ADPF) and the National Federation of Federal Police Delegates (Fenadepol) stated that they "wish the future Minister and Director-General an efficient administration guided by the sound principles of public administration, hoping, as expected, that the Federal Police will always be treated as a State Police force, with stability for its best performance and constant appreciation of its personnel." 

      Also in a statement, the National Federation of Federal Police Officers (Fenapef) said it is "available to collaborate in building urgent and necessary solutions that will leave a legacy for public security and for all federal police officers" and that it hopes the future director-general will "manage in a participatory manner and focused on all Federal Police officers."

      The National Association of Federal Criminal Experts (APCF) stated that Dino and Passos "possess the necessary qualities to perform their duties" and that the organization "will remain firm in its defense of an independent, honest, republican, and state-run Federal Police."
