Amorim made a discreet trip to Moscow before Lavrov's visit to Brazil.

The trip preceded President Lula's mission to China.

247 - Ambassador Celso Amorim, head of President Lula's special advisory team for foreign policy, made a discreet visit to Moscow this week, according to... reports journalist Assis MoreiraFrom Valor Econômico. The agenda for this visit is the subject of speculation, especially considering the Western sanctions against Moscow and the closer relationship between Russia and China.

"It is important to note that Amorim's visit occurred shortly before President Lula's trip to China on April 11. During the visit, Lula reiterated his pursuit of "peace and dialogue" in Ukraine. Furthermore, the head of Russian diplomacy, Sergey Lavrov, will be in Brasília on the 17th to officially consolidate relations with countries in the region and attempt to reduce the isolation imposed on Russia by NATO countries as a result of the invasion of Ukraine. Lavrov has already visited African and Asian countries with this objective," recalls the Valor correspondent.

"There is speculation that Moscow may try to convince Brazil to accept the use of local currency in bilateral trade or transactions in renminbi with Russia and China," the journalist adds.
