In a social media post, Altman described the PT leader's speech as "shameful" and stated that the congressman was "incapable of supporting President Lula in denouncing the Palestinian genocide in Gaza."

During the session, Jaques Wagner stated that Hamas "needs to be exterminated" and that the group "cannot be compared to an established government."
“We cannot compare an established Israeli government to a terrorist group. Hamas must be exterminated, but the Israeli government must not,” the senator declared from the podium.
Wagner described the October 7, 2023 attack as an "abominable and cowardly act," but also defended President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who has been denouncing what he considers to be a "genocide of the Palestinian people" in Gaza.
According to the Workers' Party leader, "seven of the points in the peace agreement being built are suggestions from the Brazilian government," and a segment of Israeli society "does not agree with the foreign policy of the current Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu."
“Let’s not mix things up. A government’s foreign policy is a government’s foreign policy. It’s not about the State of Israel, it’s not about Judaism,” Wagner said.
