Lula's allies believe that pro-Bolsonaro businessmen financed terrorist acts in Brasília.
Sources close to Lula's future government believe that some of the businessmen involved are already under investigation in the digital militias inquiry.
Current Brazil Network - Allies of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) are convinced that pro-Bolsonaro businessmen financed the acts of vandalism that terrorized Brasília on Monday night (12). According to information from columnist Vera Rosa, from the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo, interlocutors of the future federal government believe that some of them are the same ones investigated in the digital militias inquiry, conducted by Supreme Federal Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes. The investigation is looking into evidence of the actions of an organized group to attack democracy and the Democratic Rule of Law.
This time, the business organization is believed to be behind the criminals who set fire to buses and cars, formed barricades in the federal capital, scattered gas cylinders in the streets, and attempted to invade the Federal Police building, threatening the safety of citizens in the central area of Brasília. In September, RBA It had already been reported that businessmen were behind, for example, the organization of the events on September 7th. Called for by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), the demonstrations hijacked the bicentennial celebrations of independence and became campaign events for the then-candidate for re-election.
He was, however, defeated at the polls in October. But since then, his supporters have been illegally blocking federal highways and occupying the front of military barracks across Brazil in an anti-democratic act calling for military intervention. It is suspected that the entire structure is also being financed by pro-Bolsonaro businessmen. The president-elect also accused Bolsonaro, this Wednesday, of being behind the acts of vandalism that were not rigorously suppressed by the Military Police of the Federal District.
Public Prosecutor questions the Military Police
According to Lula and his allies, the police could have acted more forcefully against Bolsonaro supporters in the face of the violence, hours after the Workers' Party candidate was sworn in by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). More than 24 hours after the crimes, no one has been arrested. There have also been no arrests in flagrante delicto. A report in the Folha de S. Paulo newspaper shows that the lack of arrests surprised even the Civil Police of the Federal District. A delegate assigned to follow the case said that, due to the acts, the police force had urgently prepared to reinforce its teams.
There was an increase in agents at police stations. Clerks also doubled their working hours to cope with the demand that would be caused by arrests made by the PM in response to Bolsonaro's violence. Which ended up not happening. The lack of rigor also caught the attention of prosecutor Flávio Augusto Milhomem, from the 3rd Military Justice Prosecutor's Office of the DF. On Tuesday afternoon (13), the Public Ministry gave the Military Police command five days to respond to its actions.
The prosecution wants to know how many people were arrested in the act, as well as the number of police officers involved and the reaction time to contain the attacks after becoming aware of the facts. This is according to the report from... Sheet, Representatives from the Federal Police, Military Police, Civil Police, and firefighters of the federal capital held a meeting about the case during the afternoon. On the agenda, it was decided that the damage caused to the Federal Police building will be investigated by the corporation's own superintendent. The attacks on buses, vehicles, and public buildings will be investigated by the Civil Police.
Situation of the coup supporters' camps
Yesterday (13), in an interview with RBA, criminal lawyer Antonio Carlos de Almeida Castro, known as Kakay, warned that “if there is no urgent action, with mass arrests, against these fascists, the situation will only get worse”.
For Lula's allies, the Bolsonaro supporters' terrorist attack on Monday cannot be classified as having great potential. However, those involved believe that the public security system of the Federal District failed to respond adequately. The future Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, who is following the case, has been emphasizing to the press that Lula's inauguration is guaranteed. But he does not disregard the "anomalous situation" in the country, in which military installations are "besieged" by a camp of coup plotters. "I don't recall this being tolerated in the past by the Armed Forces," he observed.
According to journalist Igor Gielow, commanders of military units are already preparing to disperse pro-Bolsonaro demonstrations in front of barracks as soon as Lula takes office on January 1st. The demobilization has already been signaled by superiors in contact with the future Minister of Defense, José Múcio Monteiro. However, Bolsonaro supporters are reportedly leaving the Army Headquarters to camp in front of the Palácio da Alvorada, the official residence of the President of the Republic.
Priest involved in coups and indigenous people funded by farmers.
Also spotted at the scene was Father Genésio Lamunier Ramos, a known Bolsonaro supporter linked to the Diocese of Anápolis, in Goiás. Videos shared in groups of supporters of the defeated president show the priest, hours after the acts of vandalism, inciting new coup attempts to "stop Brazil."
“All those people, not just truck drivers, business owners, everyone who can stop Brazil and come to the demonstrations, now is the time,” he says. “In the groups, ask them to come to Brasília, to come to the headquarters. Father, what if there are too many people? If there are too many people, let the headquarters overflow. Let's occupy all the streets of Brasília, the message has been given. We went there, we motivated the president, we gave him joy and he gave us joy too,” concludes the pro-Bolsonaro priest.
Another evangelical pastor is also being pointed to, in addition to being considered the "pivot" of the explosions in the capital of the Republic. He is allegedly the indigenous leader José Acácio Serere Xavante, arrested on Monday at the request of the Attorney General's Office (PGR) after summoning "armed people" to prevent Lula's certification and inauguration. Also on Tuesday, leaders of the Xavante people stated that José Acácio does not represent the indigenous people of the ethnic group, nor the demands of native peoples. On the contrary, the Bolsonaro supporter was allegedly sponsored by farmers and businessmen from Mato Grosso and mistakenly treated as a chief by Bolsonaro supporters "in evident bad faith in the use of the image of the Xavante people," they emphasized.
Bolsonaro's complicity
Another suspicion is that the Institutional Security Office (GSI), headed by retired general Augusto Heleno, is behind the terrorist acts. The complaint, from the Revista Fórum website, takes into account the testimony of a PF officer stationed at the Presidency of the Republic. If confirmed, the case could be classified as “state terrorism”, according to political scientist Cláudio Gonçalves Couto in an interview with the Wednesday (14) edition of Jornal Brasil Atual.. In any case, according to the expert, the situation is of "extreme gravity".
“And deliberately involving the government in this is even more serious. But even if it doesn't involve them, even if this (report from the Federal Police agent) isn't proven, we still have another problem, which is the current government's omission and complicity with these acts. In other words, a government that continues to bet on coups, on destabilizing national politics to remain in power even at the cost of democracy itself. This is the scenario we are living in. The Bolsonaro government is delivering exactly what one could expect from it: this mess, chaos, and attack and disrespect for the Democratic Rule of Law,” Couto summarizes.
