Alexandre Silveira highlights the potential for expanding partnerships with Vietnam in the area of biofuels.
Minister highlights Brazil's potential as the main supplier of inputs to the Asian country.
247 - The Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, stated that Brazil has the conditions to become the largest supplier of inputs for Vietnam to expand its biofuel production. The statement was made this Saturday (29), during the Brazil-Vietnam Economic Forum, held in Hanoi. The minister's participation was part of the agenda of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's delegation in Asia. The information is from the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
During the event, Silveira emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, focusing on the transition to renewable sources and food security. He highlighted Brazil's strategic role in biofuel production and the opportunity to expand this partnership with Vietnam, which also has an economy driven by sugarcane production.
“Just like in Brazil, sugarcane production is relevant to the Vietnamese economy. This puts our countries in a very good position to advance the biofuel agenda. We already have a robust commercial partnership, especially regarding dried distillers grains, used in ethanol production, but we can do more. Brazil can be Vietnam's largest supplier of biofuel inputs,” the minister stated.
Silveira also highlighted Brazil's progress with the Future Fuel Law, an initiative of the Lula government that modernized the regulatory framework for biofuels and established mandates for the use of ethanol, green diesel, and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). According to the minister, Brazilian expertise can significantly contribute to the advancement of sustainable fuel production in Vietnam.
“We are in a position to expand our partnerships in other areas, such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), marine biofuels, and strategic minerals. We are open to sharing our experience with you, strengthening commercial partnerships, and working together towards decarbonizing the planet's energy matrix, strengthening the new, green economy,” he declared.
In addition to business opportunities, the minister took the opportunity to invite Vietnamese representatives to participate in the Global Planning Summit for Energy Transition, which will take place in June in Rio de Janeiro, and in COP 30, scheduled for November in Belém, Pará. The invitation reinforces Brazil's commitment to consolidating itself as a global leader in energy transition and sustainable development.
