247 - The pre-candidate for the Presidency from PSDB, Geraldo Alckmin, cancelled his pre-campaign agenda for this Friday (25) and Saturday (26) due to the national truckers' strike. Alckmin was to participate in events in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul and Rondônia. The cancellation of the trips aims to adjust the tucano's discourse on the unfolding of the strike that affects the supply in all states of Brazil.

According to some members of the PSDB party leadership, the movement is not a strike, but a lockout, involving business owners who aim to obtain advantages and concessions from the government through the pressure resulting from the work stoppage. In 1999, then-President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, also from the PSDB, only managed to quell a similar movement after threatening to use the Armed Forces to clear the highways and guarantee the supply of goods to the population.

Alckmin has been condemning the handling of the crisis by Michel Temer's government, but at the same time defends Pedro Parente's continued leadership of Petrobras. Since taking over the state-owned company, Parente has implemented a policy of almost daily adjustments to fuel prices based on international oil prices, which ended up triggering the national truckers' strike.
