247 – The case that exposed the HSBC tax evasion scheme in Switzerland includes, among the Brazilians involved, the family of Paulo Celso Mano Moreira da Silva. The former director of the São Paulo Metro is accused of administrative misconduct by the State Public Prosecutor's Office on suspicion of corruption with Alstom.
In 1997, Moreira da Silva opened an account in Switzerland and added two daughters as beneficiaries: Fernanda Mano de Almeida, 41, and Mariana Mano Moreira da Silva, 38. During the period investigated by Swissleaks, the account had a balance of US$3,032 million.
The irony of the case is that Fernanda is a social media agitator and a member of the PSDB party. Last February, she posted an image on her profile with the following caption: “Campaign against corruption in Brazil – I am ashamed of Brazilian politicians.” She also shared images supporting Aécio Neves's presidential candidacy.
