General Augusto Heleno's lawyer questions Moraes' actions and highlights the disparity in the questions.
The lawyer for the former GSI minister points out that the Supreme Court justice asked 302 questions compared to 59 from the Attorney General's Office during witness testimony.
247 - Lawyer Matheus Milanez, defender of former Minister of the Institutional Security Cabinet (GSI) Augusto Heleno, criticized on Wednesday (3) the posture of Minister Alexandre de Moraes during the testimonies of the defense witnesses of the defendants involved in the coup plot. The information is from Folha de S. Paul.
In his statement, Milanez highlighted the disparity in the number of questions asked by the rapporteur: 302 from Moraes compared to only 59 from the Attorney General's Office (PGR). The lawyer's criticism was directed at the minister's actions, which, according to him, exceeded the impartiality expected of a judge.
"One of the witnesses was questioned by the reporting judge about a social media post. We see the reporting judge actively questioning witnesses. The judge must be impartial. So why did he take the initiative to investigate the witnesses' social media? Who bears the burden of proof? The Public Prosecutor's Office," said Milanez, questioning Moraes's stance and suggesting that it violates the principles of impartiality expected in the process.
The lawyer also commented on Augusto Heleno's role during the Bolsonaro administration, mentioning that the general's removal was a direct consequence of the alliance between the then-president and the centrist parties. According to Milanez, this removal proves that Heleno did not play a central role in the strategy of attacking the polls, as alleged by some sectors.
"He [Heleno] has always positioned himself against traditional politics. This clear stance, from the beginning of his term, intensified when Bolsonaro moved closer to the center and joined the PL. This led to Heleno's distancing from the top of power," the lawyer stated.
