Bolsonaro's lawyer says he will request the annulment of Cid's plea bargain.
The statement from Bolsonaro's lawyer was given after a hearing with the president of the Supreme Court, Luís Roberto Barroso.
André Richter, reporter for Agência Brasil - Lawyer Celso Vilardi, representing former president Jair Bolsonaro, said on Monday (24) that he will request the annulment of the plea bargain of former aide-de-camp Mauro Cid.
The statement from Bolsonaro's lawyer was given after a hearing with the president of the Supreme Court, Luís Roberto Barroso.
Upon leaving the meeting, the lawyer said that he had "submitted several petitions to the minister," but declined to reveal their content.
The lawyer also said that the release of new audio recordings from the Federal Police (PF) regarding the investigation that formed the basis of the coup inquiry "does not complicate" Bolsonaro's situation.
"I didn't have access to all the media. This needs to be analyzed within a context, not as isolated phrases," he added.
Last week, Bolsonaro and 33 others under investigation were indicted by the Supreme Court.
The complaint will be judged by the First Panel of the Supreme Court, a body composed of the rapporteur, Alexandre de Moraes, and ministers Flávio Dino, Cristiano Zanin, Cármen Lúcia, and Luiz Fux.
If the majority of ministers accept the charges, Bolsonaro and the other defendants will become defendants and will face criminal proceedings before the Supreme Federal Court.
According to the Court's internal rules, the court's two panels are responsible for adjudicating criminal cases. Since the reporting judge is part of the First Panel, the charges will be heard by the panel.
The trial date has not yet been set. Given the legal process, the case could be heard in the first half of 2025.
