      The question is: who ordered the assassination of Marielle?

      Two days before the one-year anniversary of the assassination of councilwoman Marielle Franco (PSOL) and her driver Anderson Gomes, activists, society, and political leaders are questioning: who are the masterminds behind this barbaric crime? What motivated the assassins, or the group, to kill Marielle on that night of March 14th? The arrest of two police officers on Tuesday morning (12th) suspected of killing the councilwoman may be the beginning of the conclusion of this saga that remains unanswered.

      The question is: who ordered the assassination of Marielle?

      247 - Two days before the one-year anniversary of the assassination of councilwoman Marielle Franco (PSOL) and driver Anderson Gomes, activists, society and political leaders are questioning: who are the identities of those who ordered the barbaric crime? what motivated the assassins, or the group, to kill Marielle on that night of March 14, 2018? The arrest of two police officers on Tuesday morning (12) suspected of having killed the councilwoman, may be the beginning of the conclusion of a plot that continues without several answers to date. 

      Prisons 

      The Homicide Division (DH) of Rio de Janeiro arrested retired military police officer Ronnie Lessa, accused of firing shots at the car where the parliamentarian was, and former military officer Élcio Vieira de Queiroz is accused of driving the car that pursued Marielle. Lessa, accused of being the assassin, lives in the same condominium as Bolsonaro.

      The national impact 

      Marielle's wife, Monica Benicio, states: Congratulations to the prosecutors and everyone involved. I hope to have access to the details so that I feel secure in this outcome. But the most urgent and necessary answer of all is still missing: WHO ORDERED Marielle's murder? I hope I don't have to wait another year to find out.

      Guilherme Boulos says that "today's arrests are an important step in finding out who killed Marielle and Anderson. It is necessary to investigate whether the fact that one of those arrested is Bolsonaro's neighbor is a coincidence or not. In any case, the question remains: who ordered Marielle's murder?" 

       

      Federal deputy Marcelo Freixo posted on his social media: "The assassination of a city councilwoman is a political crime. Therefore, it is crucial to know which political group is capable of, in the 21st century, ordering the elimination of a public authority who has crossed their path. We need to find out who ordered the execution of Marielle Franco." 

      He further adds: "The arrests of Marielle and Anderson's killers are important and overdue. It's unacceptable that it takes a year to get any answers. It's a decisive step, but the case is not solved. It's crucial to know who ordered the killings and what the motive was."


      Federal deputy Jandira Feghali (PCdoB) exposes the past of PM Lessa, one of the accused: "PM Ronnie Lessa, arrested and accused of killing Marielle, is known for being an excellent marksman and for his coldness. The policeman was once a trusted man of the illegal gambling operator Rogério Andrade, but lost his position after an attack that killed the gambling operator's son."

       

      Federal deputy Ivan Valente considers the arrest of the suspects to be a "positive" development.

      "Only now, on the eve of the one-year anniversary of the assassination of Marielle and Anderson, two suspects have been arrested: a military police officer and a former military police officer. The central question remains: who ordered the killings? The relationship between militiamen and right-wing politicians in Rio de Janeiro is well-known; the scheme needs to be uncovered," he explains. 

       

      Federal Deputy Chico Alencar reveals the tactic used by the suspect to obstruct the investigations. "Racism even in the details? Accused of being the shooter who killed Marielle and Anderson, he allegedly put a black protector on his arm to be mistaken, as he was, for a black person, hindering the investigation. All abominable! Like the destruction of Marielle's plaque and the awarding of a medal to a militia member." 

      Journalist Eliane Brum questions Bolsonaro's stance: "A military police officer and a former military police officer are arrested for the murder of Marielle. The report is by Chico Otávio and Vera Araújo. Chico Otávio is the reporter that Bolsonaro tried to discredit, along with his daughter, reporter Constança Rezende. He unleashed his lynching machine against them. Why?" 

       

      Congresswoman Luiza Erundina says she is still waiting for the outcome of the case. "The news is undoubtedly very important, although it comes almost a year after the deaths of Marielle and Anderson. We hope that the arrest of the suspects will give us the answer we want: who ordered Marielle's murder?"

      Economist Laura Carvalho also raised the same question.

       

      Manuella Dávila highlights the close address between the suspect and Bolsonaro: "Two police officers are arrested in Barra da Tijuca, suspected of carrying out..." Marielle Franco. One of them lives in the same condominium as Jair Bolsonaro."
