"The history of Brazil has a date with Justice," says Cappelli.
The First Panel of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) begins judging the Attorney General's complaint against Bolsonaro and other members of the central group behind the attempted coup d'état.
247 - The president of the Brazilian Industrial Development Agency (ABDI), Ricardo Cappelli, stated that Brazil has a “date with Justice” this Tuesday (25). The First Panel of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) begins judging this Tuesday the complaint filed by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) against former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and the other members of the central core of the coup plot in Brazil after the 2022 elections.
Appointed as the federal interventor for public security in the Federal District after the coup attempts of January 8th, Cappelli said he witnessed firsthand the attempt to impose terror on Brazil and demands that those involved not go unpunished.
“On January 8th, I witnessed firsthand the obscurantism attempting to impose terror on the country once again. Brazilian history has a date with Justice today. Enough of impunity. FREEDOM is our greatest asset. May everyone pay for their crimes so that it NEVER happens again,” he wrote on his social media.
Presented in February, the complaint against Bolsonaro and the other members of the central core of the attempted coup d'état, which culminated in the coup acts of January 8, will be analyzed by the panel composed of ministers Luiz Fux, Cármen Lúcia, Flávio Dino, Alexandre de Moraes — rapporteur of the case — and Cristiano Zanin, who presides over the panel.
The indictment positions Bolsonaro as the leader of a criminal organization that acted to overturn the election results after his defeat in the October 2022 election to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
