247 - The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), through FGV Clima, formalized a Technical Cooperation Agreement (ACT) last week aimed at advancing the energy transition in Brazil. According to information released by the MME itself, the partnership is strictly technical in nature and aims to support the preparation and development of studies and research to inform national policies and plans, especially the National Energy Transition Plan (Plante).

Valid until August 2026, the agreement provides for the carrying out of sectoral diagnoses, analysis of policies and regulations, as well as the promotion of workshops and bilateral meetings. At the end of the period, a report will be produced consolidating all the activities and conclusions of the joint work.

The ACT does not involve the transfer of financial resources or the donation of goods. Each institution will bear its own costs, including expenses for staff, travel, communication, and other needs, according to its budget. According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), the collaboration aims to combine technical expertise to accelerate the planning of the energy transition in the country.

What is Plante?
The National Energy Transition Plan (Plante) is the main instrument for implementing the National Energy Transition Policy (PNTE). With a long-term horizon, the plan integrates actions aimed at a decarbonized energy system, aligned with economic and social development and the neutrality of net greenhouse gas emissions.

In addition to systematizing existing initiatives, such as the Ecological Transformation Plan, the Climate Plan, and the New Industry Brazil, the Plan should propose new measures aligned with its strategic axes. These actions will have operational details for a period of four years, with the possibility of revision at each implementation cycle.
