247 - Banco do Brasil and Petrobras have signed new sustainable credit agreements, reinforcing their commitment to the energy transition and environmental preservation. According to an announcement made this Thursday (20), two Export Credit Notes (NCE) were contracted, one for R$ 3,5 billion and another for R$ 3 billion, both maturing in 2032. In addition, the companies renewed a Committed Credit Line (Revolving Credit Facility - RCF) worth R$ 2 billion, now extended to 2030. The agreement also includes the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the joint development of projects focused on decarbonization and biodiversity.

“The partnership between Petrobras and Banco do Brasil demonstrates the strength of collaboration between two highly relevant Brazilian institutions, joining efforts towards a sustainable future. This initiative reinforces our commitment to the energy transition and the preservation of biodiversity,” highlighted the president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard.

NCE contracts are linked to environmental commitments, ensuring that resources are allocated to initiatives such as biofuels, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. Compliance with these targets will be assessed annually by an external consultancy.

The president of Banco do Brasil, Tarciana Medeiros, highlighted the importance of the partnership in promoting sustainable financial practices. "Thanks to our commitment to the sustainability agenda, we were elected the Most Sustainable Bank in the World in 2025, for the sixth time. We operate not only in granting sustainable credit, but also with consulting and intelligence transfer that allow our clients to advance in projects that benefit companies, people, and the environment," she stated.

Banco do Brasil has already achieved carbon neutrality in its direct emissions and aims to reach net-zero in its financed portfolio by 2050. The institution also seeks to expand its operations in the carbon credit market, focusing on Brazilian biomes. “The contracting of the credit line with sustainability commitments reinforces Petrobras' commitment to socio-environmental responsibility, preparing the company for the future of the energy transition not only in our projects and operations, but also in our financial practices,” stated Petrobras' Chief Financial Officer and Investor Relations Director, Fernando Melgarejo.

The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the companies expands financing alternatives for the energy transition and reinforces the concept of "green finance." The partnership will stimulate the joint identification and evaluation of projects, financial structures, and incentives aimed at decarbonization and biodiversity protection.

Petrobras and Banco do Brasil had already signed a technical agreement during the G20 summit in November 2024 to strengthen the biofuel supply chain. The initiative provides support to suppliers and cooperatives, ensuring greater sustainability in the production and marketing of these inputs.
