Does one swallow make a summer?
"May the Brazilian Army purge the rotten apples from its ranks, these are my wishes for 2023," writes Hildegard Angel.

Retired Colonel Marcelo Pimentel is the best current source on matters concerning the Brazilian Army and the principles that govern it, which must be rigorously followed. Even by oath.
Starting with Bolsonaro – a military officer expelled from the Army for indiscipline, lies, and planning acts of terror – these principles began to be brazenly and grotesquely disobeyed and transgressed by those who should be ensuring their compliance.
The bad example, coming from the top, spread in a chain reaction all the way down to the lowest hierarchy. And all this in an offensive manner, in broad daylight, without composure or zeal.
The result is clear: terrorism intercepted by sheer chance, because the authorities competent enough to detect it in time to prevent a resounding tragedy either didn't have eye drops or were wearing sunglasses...
One of the least serious "infractions" of the military code is mentioning one's rank for political purposes, such as campaigning for an election.
In this last election, however, we saw a veritable festival of candidates named General M, Colonel Y, Captain G, Lieutenant Z. Several of them were elected based on irregularities.
If someone doesn't obey the laws of their own Armed Forces, what will they obey?
It's one of two things, as the joke goes: either the rules are followed, or everyone gets rich.
From what we see on the near (and distant) horizon, the intention is for the institutional chaos to continue at Casa de Noca.
One rotten apple spoils the whole barrel. My wish for 2023 is that the Brazilian Army purges the rotten apples from its ranks.
And may the Air Force and Navy do the same, even though, apparently, the incidence within their ranks is lower.
All of this is done out of respect for our Armed Forces, the Nation, the Homeland, and above all, the Brazilian people whom they swear to defend, not attack.
Thanks to Colonel Marcelo Pimentel, an example that good military men exist, and we should not doubt this, otherwise Brazil would be a lost cause, doomed to always repeat the same mistakes... (contains slight irony)
May the number of Colonels Pimentel multiply, for the chance of an honorable future! After all, one swallow does not make a summer.
