A story in service of freedom.

I often say that the PCdoB acts as a barometer of democratic freedom in Brazil. Since the beginning of the 20th century, even while persecuted, its political actions have taken to the streets in support of social demands.

On its 93rd anniversary of struggle and after three decades of parliamentary activity, including in the constituent assemblies of 1946 and 1988, the Communist Party of Brazil has remained faithful to the causes most dear to the Brazilian people. Even during periods of persecution and illegality, we, communists, vigorously and courageously defended the structural pillars of a strong and full democracy. This stance guaranteed significant achievements such as religious freedom and the right to vote at age 16 for all citizens.

Freedom, equality, ethics in conducting public life, and the fight for labor and social advancements are part of our history. These are themes that need to be revisited today, when we see them threatened by vested interests. Threatened by a movement that tries, at all costs, to make a project already rejected at the polls by the majority of the population prevail.

I often say that our party functions as a thermometer of democratic freedom in Brazil. Since the beginning of the 20th century, even when persecuted, its political actions have taken to the streets in support of social demands. From the countryside to the big cities, the world of work, unions, social movements, retirees, and students have counted on our party, always aligned with their just demands in the streets and factories.

The current political climate demands even more the presence of the PCdoB, when, in an unprecedented way, our country witnesses, between astonishment and indignation, fascist forces occupying the streets with the most retrograde objectives. The emboldened right wing, allied with the mainstream media, economic power, and international financial capital, continually attempts to destabilize the government and the country, but we remain firm in defending the advances achieved during the Lula and Dilma governments, in a project that we helped to build since 89.

The Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB) is not a small party; it is grand in its daily role in Brazilian political life, in the strategic definition of a national project, and in its ideological firmness. Increasingly, our militants are fervently demanding solid change. They are active agents in the debate of ideas in various popular forums throughout Brazil, in institutional fronts with the National Congress, state and municipal legislatures, mayors, government secretaries, and ministers, all contributing to the construction of a popular and democratic project.

It is by maintaining its convictions that the party approaches its centenary with the spirit of a young dreamer. Even amidst the "storms," our convictions are strengthened and reach more hearts and minds. The country is experiencing an atmosphere of intolerance, backwardness, and the imposition of a single discourse. Even so, and especially in this scenario, we will not leave the front lines of the Left, where we were forged and where we still exist today.

As João Amazonas used to say: "The flag of my party is red, representing an old dream." We display it with pride. With the certainty that our history is the history of the working people. Our struggle is the struggle of minorities united against prejudice. Our choice is for freedom, for democracy, and for a just and sovereign Brazil.

Congratulations, PCdoB!
