Interim President Michel Temer (PMDB) intends to exchange the retirement benefits of our elderly for coffins, as his proposed pension reform includes raising the minimum retirement age to 70.

The coup leader declared yesterday (4), in São Paulo, to an audience of ruralists that he has no problem with "unpopular proposals" during his interim period.

"People ask me, 'Aren't you afraid to propose unpopular measures?' No. Because my goal isn't electoral. My goal, in these two and a half years, if I stay for two and a half years, is to get Brazil back on track," stated the PMDB member.

Temer participated in an event with 46 representative entities of agribusiness – the GF 16 (Global Agribusiness Forum 2016).

Counterpoint

During the impeachment vote in the Senate in May, Senator Roberto Requião (PMDB-PR), in his statement opposing the coup, said: "Michel Temer takes over, but supported by ideas in the 'Bridge to the Future,' which are ideas linked to neoliberal utopia, such as raising the retirement age," the senator exemplified, citing the case of the state of the Senate president, Renan Calheiros – Alagoas – where life expectancy is 65 years and eight months, and the worker would then only have the guarantee of eight months of retirement.

Senator Paulo Paim (PT-RS) also criticized Michel Temer's "unpopular proposal" to raise the minimum retirement age. According to the senator, if Temer were to run for president, the proposals he supports would be "crushed by the country."
