Temer returns the government to Dilma: "You only call me a decorative coup plotter."

And he concludes dramatically: “Finally, I know that neither you nor the Brazilian people have confidence in me and the PMDB today, and they won't tomorrow. I regret this, but this is my conviction. That is why I am handing the government back to you.”; chronicle by Alex Solnik

Sad and gloomy, like all romantic poets over 75, the figurehead president sent a new letter to the ousted president Dilma Rousseff.

   He lists his main complaints: “I spent the first two weeks of my administration as a figurehead president. You know this. I lost all the political prominence I had in the past, which you could have highlighted. But you only call me a figurehead coup plotter.”

   Temer reveals dissatisfaction with the way he and his ministers are treated: "Neither I nor the PMDB have ever been called upon to discuss the country's economic or political policies; we are mere accessories, secondary, subsidiary to José Serra, Eduardo Cunha, and Henrique Meirelles."

   He also complains on behalf of Jucá: "In the most recent episode involving Romero Jucá, he left the Ministry due to many "slights," culminating in what his employees did to him, the Minister, deleting, without any prior notice, the conversations he had recorded with Renan.

   He complains about the lack of credit: "Your conversation with Lula (one of the two highest authorities in the country) was leaked without giving me credit, even though I suggested the idea and passed your phone number to Sergio Moro."

   He resents being passed over at a coffee shop that lasted two hours: “A Madam, upon arriving at the Alvorada Palace, she had coffee for over two hours (according to what Etchegoyen told me) with the former waiter from my Palace – with whom I had built a good friendship – without inviting me, which led her advisors to ask: "What happened that in a meeting with the most beloved waiter in Brazil, her former boss wasn't present?"

   Next, he confesses that he is a constant interlocutor with corrupt individuals: “As a democrat, yes, Madam President, I do talk to all corrupt people. I always have, during the 24 years I spent in Parliament, and I wouldn't stop doing it now that they are my ministers.”

   It refers to past disappointments: "During your second term, at the last minute, you didn't renew my chauffeur's driver's license."

   He was also embarrassed at not being invited to a kickabout with Neymar and Messi, of whom his son Michelzinho – a prosperous real estate investor – is a fan. "Worse: the lady's friends from the MTST set up camp right in front of my house and didn't invite Michelzinho, which shows contempt even for my ancestry";

   He admits that, because of all this, Tiririca, his dream candidate for the Ministry of Culture, didn't accept, claiming that he wasn't a "clown".

   He claims that “theDespite the 35 federal positions I created specifically for them, four of the 55 senators decided to change their vote on the impeachment in exchange for merchandising with Cachaça 51.

  And he concludes dramatically: “Finally, I know that neither you nor the Brazilian people have confidence in me and the PMDB today, and they won’t tomorrow. I regret this, but this is my conviction. That is why I am handing the government back to you.”

São Paulo, June 04, 2.016.

Madam President,

"Verba volant, scripta manent" (Words fly away, writings remain). As I already said in the previous letter.

That's why I'm writing to you. It's very much in line with the intense news coverage of the last few days and everything I've heard from conversations at the Alvorada Palace, thanks to Etchegoyen.

This is a personal letter. It's a venting of feelings that I should have done a long time ago.

Let me tell you right away that there's no need to publicly flaunt my incompetence. I've been demonstrating it throughout these past five years.

However, I have always been aware of the absolute distrust that the lady and her entourage, and all Brazilians, have towards me and the PMDB.

It suffices to point out that in the last election, only 0009,9% of voters cast their ballots for me. And they only did so, I dare say, because they didn't yet know me as interim president. Nor did they know that I am ineligible for eight years.

I maintained the unity of the PMDB by betraying your government and using the political prestige you gained in the country, stemming from the credibility and respect you earned. All of this did not generate trust in me. It generates distrust and contempt for me and the gang that surrounds me.

Let's get to the facts. I'll give you some examples.

1. I spent the first two weeks of my administration as a figurehead president. You know this. I lost all the political prominence I had in the past, which you could have highlighted. But you only call me a figurehead coup plotter, which puts me on bad terms with my Brazilian and American colleagues;

2. Neither I nor the PMDB have ever been called upon to discuss the country's economic or political policies; we are merely accessories, secondary, subsidiary to José Serra, Eduardo Cunha, and Henrique Meirelles.

3. During her second term, at the last minute, she didn't renew the driver's license of my chauffeur, who did an excellent and highly praised job transporting Blatter and Valcker and their suitcases full of dollars during the World Cup. She knew he was my recommendation. She therefore wanted to devalue me. I even reported this fact to her the following day, on the phone.

4. In the most recent Romero Jucá episode, he left the Ministry due to many "slights," culminating in what his employees did to him, the Minister, deleting without any prior notice the conversations he had recorded with Renan. It was claimed a) that the wiretap was outside technical standards; b) that Renan had a cold that day and his voice came out nasal; c) none of the above;

5. When you called on Brazilians to call me an amateur coup plotter, at a time when my government was very discredited, everyone complied, and Cunha and I offered a fervent prayer. But it didn't work;

6. In any case, I am a figurehead President, and you chose to ignore me by inviting Neymar and Messi for a kickabout in the Alvorada Palace gardens without any prior communication. (Etchegoyen told me.) You know, they are my son's idols. And you didn't even bother to ask for an autographed Neymar jersey for little Michelzinho, who at seven years old already owns two properties worth 2 million reais. But, as we all know, money doesn't buy happiness. Worse: your friends from the MTST set up camp right in front of my house and didn't invite little Michelzinho, which shows contempt even for my descendants;

7. As a democrat, Madam President, I do talk to all corrupt individuals. I always have, throughout my 24 years in Parliament. Why wouldn't I do it now that they are my ministers? Moreover, the first provisional measure regarding the bribery adjustment was approved thanks to the 8 votes of the DEM, 6 of the PSB, and 3 of the PV, remembering that it was approved by only 22 votes. I am criticized for this, based on a misguided view of our system. And it was not without reason that on two occasions I emphasized that we should reunify the country around the issue of bribery. The Alvorada Palace decided to spread and criticize this.

8. I also recall that, upon arriving at the Alvorada Palace, you had coffee for over two hours (according to Etchegoyen) with the former waiter from my Palace – with whom I had built a good friendship – without inviting me, which led your advisors to ask: what happened that in a meeting with the most beloved waiter in Brazil, your former boss wasn't present? Earlier, during the American "espionage" episode, when conversations about feijoada recipes began to be recorded, you sent the Minister of Justice to chat nonsense with the Vice President of the United States. All of this signifies an absolute lack of self-confidence to me;

9. Soon after, your conversation with Lula (one of the two highest authorities in the country) was leaked without credit being given to me, even though I suggested the idea and passed your phone number to Sergio Moro;

10. Even the program "Mais Você," another ratings champion applauded by society, whose proposals could be used to revive the economy and restore confidence, was considered an unfair maneuver;

11. The PMDB is aware that its government is trying to promote its division, something it has already attempted in the past without success, because the PMDB knows how to divide itself;

12. Even Tiririca, who was my dream candidate for the Ministry of Culture, rejected the invitation, claiming he wasn't a "clown";

13. You, the lady, are living the good life, traveling here and there with nothing to do, while I have to put up with Cunha's sour face every day, from morning till night.

14. Despite the 35 federal positions I created specifically for them, four of the 55 senators decided to change their vote on the impeachment in exchange for merchandising with Cachaça 51.

Finally, I know that neither you nor the Brazilian people have confidence in me and the PMDB today, and they won't tomorrow. I regret this, but this is my conviction. Therefore, I am handing the government back to you.

Respectfully,

M. Temer

To Her Excellency Madam

Dr. Dilma Rousseff

The President of the Republic of Brazil
