Supreme Court trips over its own feet.

Unlike Lula, against whom nothing concrete has been proven so far, Moreira Franco, nicknamed "Angorá" in the Odebrecht spreadsheet, was mentioned more than 30 times in the testimony of Cláudio Melo Filho, former director of institutional relations for the construction company.

The right wing never accepted the fact that Lula was elected president of Brazil twice.

He never accepted the process of income distribution and reduction of inequalities that he initiated, transforming the country into a globally respected nation.

The right wing is not happy to see Lula's name rising in the polls as a likely candidate in 2018.

It's unbelievable how the coup plotters, perched in key positions here and there, act with the arrogance of those who believe in the impunity of history.

The latest move in the relentless judicial hunt against Lula in recent years involves the Federal Police and once again exposes the contradictions in which the Supreme Federal Court is mired.

Last week, Lula was accused by Federal Police investigator Marlon Cajado of obstructing justice with his appointment to the Civil House.

This has to be a joke! Dilma's nomination was ultimately blocked by an injunction from Supreme Court Justice Gilmar Mendes in March 2016, on the grounds that her intention was to shield him from legal proceedings.

It is worth remembering that Gilmar Mendes, in issuing an opinion against Lula's inauguration, accepting the requests made by the PSDB and PPS parties, changed his long-standing position on the illegitimacy of political parties to challenge this type of act.

The delegate's initiative puts the Supreme Court in check, since Minister Celso de Mello guaranteed Moreira Franco's appointment as minister in Michel Temer's government, categorically stating that privileged jurisdiction does not mean obstruction of justice.

If it didn't signify an attempt to obstruct justice for Moreira Franco – who, incidentally, was mentioned several times in Lava Jato plea bargains – it shouldn't have meant anything for Lula at the time, and even less so now should it justify the outlandish conclusion of investigator Marlon Cajado.

On sleepless nights, I would advise Cajado to read Gilmar Mendes's opinion prohibiting Lula's inauguration and Celso de Mello's opinion allowing Moreira Franco to remain in office. Would he be able to understand and explain to the public what they have in common?

In this era of commissioned stories, a good article for the mainstream press would be to interview Cajado about it.

The most absurd thing is that in the insane quest to condemn Lula for something, Cajado is now accusing him of an act he didn't commit. Lula didn't appoint himself and Lula didn't take office, therefore he cannot be condemned for something he didn't do.

Even if he had done so, he could not be convicted because being appointed and taking office does not constitute any wrongdoing.

The appointment was made by Dilma Rousseff. In the 47-page report sent by the Federal Police delegate to Minister Edson Fachin, rapporteur of Lava Jato at the Supreme Court, Dilma is also accused of obstructing justice. And the coup script continues firmly on its path. At least, it tries to.

Melo's decision puts Gilmar's decision and his own in the spotlight. Gilmar acted politically at the time. If his unilateral decision was incorrect, it should be reviewed by the full Supreme Court.

If, on the other hand, Mello is deemed to have been mistaken, his decision should also be reviewed, and Moreira Franco will be prevented from remaining as minister, since he has already taken office since February 3rd.

The people are not stupid and will no longer swallow this farce: that a police officer intends to turn into a crime against Lula an act of appointment that was the exclusive responsibility of the then President of the Republic, Dilma Rousseff.

The police chief resorted to "media specializing in politics" to justify his decision, but did not present any legal basis for his statement.

This country has become a country of double standards, and the Supreme Federal Court, supposedly the ultimate guardian of the Constitution, is not fulfilling its role satisfactorily.
