Week of Cunha and the Odebrecht plea bargain.
These are 'Shades of Gray' that will create immense anxiety in this political and crime drama. It's said that the authors haven't yet decided the fate of the heroes and villains. However, there's a tendency for one of the villains, Eduardo Cunha, to be affected and lose a significant portion of his power.
This week is shaping up to be very heated. Signals emanating from the capital of Brazilian politics indicate that the suspended Speaker of the House, Eduardo Cunha (PMB-RJ), and Marcelo Odebrecht will be the protagonists of the main series and the ratings leader.
These are 'Shades of Gray' that will create immense anxiety in this political and crime drama. It's said that the authors haven't yet decided the fate of the heroes and villains. However, there's a tendency for one of the villains, Eduardo Cunha, to be affected and lose a significant portion of his power.
The influential congressman reportedly lost the support of the government of interim president Michel Temer, their party, the PMDB, and even the deputies of the Centrão, a bloc he created and which forms the largest informal parliamentary bloc in the National Congress.
Former allies want Cunha to resign as Speaker of the House. Last week he was reportedly approached by congressmen who advised him to resign for the good of the Temer government. They say the congressman from Rio de Janeiro lost his temper and shouted, denying such a possibility.
Eduardo Cunha believes that if he were to relinquish his mandate, he and his family would be "surrounded" by Judge Sérgio Moro. Just to remind you, last week his wife, Cláudia Cruz, became a defendant in the Lava Jato corruption investigation by decision of the judge from Paraná. The scheme to convince Eduardo Cunha is called "Operation Cat's Paw," a reference to the feline's ability to strike and immediately withdraw its paw, and to the act of acting stealthily.
However, there is great fear within the Temer government, the PMDB, and the Centrão. This is because, to save himself, Cunha might confess. He hired the lawyers who brokered the plea bargain of Sérgio Machado, who headed Transpetro, and implicated Renan Calheiros, Sérgio Jucá, José Sarney, among others.
Well, now that Cunha's wife and daughter have become defendants and may be investigated and convicted, Cunha might spill the beans. They say he has information to destroy 150 congressmen, ministers, and senators.
Meanwhile, the top executives at the Odebrecht construction company are negotiating plea bargains in the Lava Jato corruption investigation. They have reportedly agreed to reveal all details about the list of bribes and slush funds seized by the Federal Police, which indicates the movement of illicit money.
If this happens, members of parliament, senators, ministers, Dilma Rousseff, the judiciary, and political parties will inevitably be affected.
Fate awaits them in a thousand shades of gray. Or Alcatraz, escape impossible.
Who knows, maybe all the president's men. Or nothing lasts forever. Better call Sherlock Holmes and 007.
