Fearless happiness awaits. It's time to celebrate!
A large public festival is being organized to welcome Brazilians from all states of the country.
A line from the 1989 jingle "Lula lá" says, "Without fear of being happy, I want to see it arrive. Lula lá, a star shines, Lula lá, hope grows...". A song over 30 years old, but still relevant because of the message it carries.
We wanted it so much, we fought so hard, we hoped so much, that our star finally shone. And the day to realize this dream, which seemed so distant, has arrived: it will be on Sunday, January 1st, 2023. It's time to celebrate!
A huge popular celebration is being organized to welcome Brazilians from all states of the country. From north to south. From east to west. All united for the inauguration of President Lula. The expectation is that at least 300 people will attend the Esplanade of Ministries to celebrate the victory of democracy, of the will of the people. It will be a day marked by joy and hope.
And Lula has already given his message. “Everyone is invited to the inauguration ceremony. Please be there on Sunday, there will be no noise. Don’t worry. Those who lost the elections should stay quiet. And those who won have the right to have a big popular celebration here in Brasília,” said the president, at an event held this Thursday (29) to announce his star-studded team of ministers who will help him put Brazil back on track.
Let's not be afraid. Let's be cautious, of course, but let's not be afraid. The terrorism that occurred in Brasília in recent days will not be repeated, that's what the Public Security authorities of the Federal District assure us. Even belatedly, those involved in the terrorist act are being arrested. One by one.
Early in the morning, the Federal Police and the Civil Police of the Federal District had already executed 32 warrants against suspects of vandalism in the capital. By midday, at least four individuals involved had been detained and will face charges of aggravated damage, criminal association, coup d'état, and others, potentially facing up to 34 years in prison. A lesson for those who dare to attack our democracy.
Another factor that reassures us regarding security on inauguration day is the police presence that will be on the streets of the Federal District. At least 8 security agents, including the entire Federal District Military Police and military personnel, will be working at the event. In addition, there will be undercover police officers, and the use of the National Force has been authorized by the Federal Government. Another point to highlight is the Supreme Federal Court's prohibition on the transport of weapons and ammunition by Collectors, Shooters, and Hunters (CACs). In other words, no weapons allowed.
January 1st will be the culmination of our struggle for a more just Brazil. For more than four years, we watched our people be sidelined, living without the minimum of dignity, with almost no prospect of change. We saw President Dilma Rousseff impeached without committing any crime. Years later, Lula, then a presidential candidate in 2018, was imprisoned so that Bolsonaro would have a chance to win the elections. Since then, we, the Brazilian people, have had no peace. Rights were taken away, public policies destroyed, lives were lost. But this time of setbacks has come to an end.
Therefore, we will be present at the Esplanade. We will go with the certainty that a new Brazil is already being built. A Brazil for everyone, without exclusions. With each song, we will sing to the four winds. With each reunion, we will smile. We will shout, embrace our loved ones, and cry, if necessary. We won! Yes, we won!
Without fear of being happy, it's time to celebrate!
