Without fear of being happy
In the final stretch of the campaign, while President and candidate Jair Bolsonaro rides a bull in Petrolina (PE), holds motorcycle rallies in the capitals, attacks Supreme Court ministers, and appears decrepit in a live broadcast from the Alvorada Palace's storeroom, future President Lula holds meetings with artists at Anhembi, with athletes, influencers, movements of people with disabilities, the elderly, religious leaders, representatives of organized civil society, and dined with the "Brazilian GDP" in a historic meeting with business leaders.
This scenario is reflected in the opinion polls from all institutes, which place Lula as the likely President of the Federative Republic of Brazil for the third time.
There is no "we've already won" atmosphere in the committees and on the streets, because we are still grieving the deaths in the pandemic and the hunger of millions of brothers and sisters weighs heavily on our hearts.
We have a civilized, patriotic, and civic duty to throw away the misfortune of the useless burden accumulated during the disastrous government of the future prisoner and genocidal leader.
The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) needs to be vigilant regarding the prohibition of the right to come and go, as exemplified by the mayor of Porto Alegre suspending free public transportation in the outskirts on November 2nd, the pickets at bus garage entrances on election day, the alleged plot by Bolsonaro-supporting poll workers, the hacker attack on PT websites, the army instructing voters, violence against anyone carrying any symbol of the left, and even posts by Bolsonaro supporters on social media, such as one of a fanatic licking the barrel of a shotgun.
We don't know if it will be in the first or second round, but the PT's victory will come with the certainty of those who have already prepared the steak, beer, and invited family and friends to the victory barbecue.
We will still write about 'rigged ballot boxes', militia bravado, the 'prevention' of Lula's inauguration, votes for number 22 'falling' into the count for number 13, legal proceedings; episodes like the chaotic attempt to recreate the 'Capitol' will be on the agenda, as well as fake news about a possible reaction from the Armed Forces.
The truth will prevail, democracy is stronger, the OAS, the EU, and the UN are prepared to recognize Lula's victory as soon as the result is announced; no institution will side with a discredited coup plotter who will spend his days trying to escape prison.
And in 2023, recent history will be partially repaired with former President Dilma Rousseff passing the Presidential Sash to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
