Communication and mobilization network to combat the three Ms.
"The Network for Democracy is the task of all those who fight against Bolsonaro's terrorism and military coup attempts."
"I liked Haddad's statement that we're going to implement tax reform in the first half of the year. This requires a lot of discussion, and you all need to learn how to exert a lot of pressure; otherwise, we won't achieve this."It is precisely because Lula is president that you have to exert pressure. "With another president, you won't be able to exert pressure because the rubber bullets hit too hard." (Lula's statement, my emphasis)
This is not the first time; he had already said the same thing in his previous government, that Lula encourages pressure in favor of agendas that resonate with the people. The dialectic of opposites is constantly at play, and if the left passively waits for the government to make decisions, it will be acting wrongly, outside the axis of class struggle, in which initiative, vigorous support for successes, and empowerment are necessary.
A democratic government acts according to the balance of power in relation to demands. This is a government that swings between cities and is sensitive to pressure. Notably, because it is a government with a broad political front, encompassing different and even antagonistic conceptions, the structural contradiction of capital versus labor is present within the government and will be reflected in each shift in its political stance.
Confronting the tutelage of the military and the market is a difficult struggle, with advances and setbacks; the fight against Bolsonaro's Nazi-fascism will be very tenacious; confronting both requires a well-structured communication and mobilization network, both from the government and from political parties and social movements.
After Lula's brilliant interview on Globonews, the company, through its columnists, has already reacted. Globo's meddling in the economy is as predictable as it is laughable, because it lacks the moral and technical qualifications to do so.
Morais, because it is not impartial, it is ideologically committed to big capital and authoritarianism; and it is technical, because it is a company that is constantly in the red and supported Paulo Guedes' plans, which generated the perverse legacy left by the Bolsonaro government. Therefore, it cannot manage its own company well, it supported Lava Jato, the precursor to the economic, social, and political chaos in Brazil, and it wants to teach President Lula, in his third term, how to run a country.
The market, the military, and the coup-mongering media are the three main enemies of democracy and social welfare..
If the government does not count on the permanent mobilization of organized civil society, new coup attempts and a continuous campaign of destabilization will occur.
As the government moves forward with the agenda of income distribution and investments in education, health, and social assistance, its ideological enemies will intensify their efforts to politically destabilize it.
How to deal with MMM?
The answer lies in the article's title: creating a permanent and continuous network of communication and mobilization, both institutional (public media) and social (movements, communities, entities, parties), to support the president's measures.
Lula has acted with the necessary prudence and the determination of a statesman. He deserves applause and greater engagement from the left, which, in turn, should avoid the fragmentation of causes and apply the old method of agitprop for unified demands.
The day of dishonor, January 8th, due to everything that occurred and is still under investigation, provided the objective and subjective conditions to confront military tutelage, and President Lula showed that he is the highest leader of the nation, and made the right decisions at the right time and place.
However, the coup-plotting den within the Armed Forces has not ceased to exist. A change of command is not enough; it is necessary to wage an ideological battle, a struggle of values and worldviews, through cultural channels, and, above all, to know and uphold the principles and rules of the Federal Constitution.
Before the 64 coup, there were nationalists, legalists, and also those who sympathized with the aims of the left within the Armed Forces, firefighters, and military police. During the dictatorship, they were persecuted, some tortured, and, according to the National Truth Commission (CNV), 6591, from privates to generals, were purged from their ranks; later, other research raised that number to 7500.
After the 64 coup and even before total censorship, alternative theater, music, cinema, and newspapers were a trench in the fight against the coup and what was to come: the 21-year dictatorship.
Plays such as Liberdade, Liberdade, Pequenos burgueses, Arena conta Zumbi, Opinião; films such as O Dragão da Maldade, Cabra Marcado para Morrer, Pra Frente Brasil; songs such as “Pra não dizer que não falei das Flores”, “Carcará”, “Apesar de você”, “O bêbado e o equilibrista”, “Que as crianças cantem livres”, “Cálice”, “Eu quero é botar o meu bloco na rua”, “Mosca na sopa”; alternative newspapers such as Pasquim, Opinião, Movimento, O São Paulo, O Brasil Mulher, student and union newspapers and the clandestine press, contributed to a cultural and political effervescence of the highest importance during the period.
Carnival was another means, through storylines, sambas, and marches, of denouncing, resisting, and promoting values.
Composed before 1964, the "Ash Wednesday March" was an early protest against the reality that would be produced by the military dictatorship.
Plots such as: “The Revolt of the Lash”; “Heroes of Independence”; “And Speaking of Nostalgia”; “Heroes of Liberty”; “Traces and Jokes”; “History of Freedom in Brazil”, were some in this vein.
The return of street carnival and the rebuilding of democracy are occurring simultaneously as a sign of this year, 2023.
Building a Democracy Network is a task for all those fighting against Bolsonaro's terrorism and military coup attempts.
These are not calm times, but times of tumultuous journeys; whoever dozes off will miss the locomotive of history, the redeemer of democracy.
