Racists will not prevail.
Bolsonaro's running mate, General Mourão, in a single sentence dismissed two of the three pillars of Brazilian nationality: Black and Indigenous people. And he even asks for the votes of the majority Black and Indigenous population to be elected Vice President of the Republic.
The Brazilian nation was built through the labor of Black, Indigenous, and White people, and historically it is constituted by these three ethnicities.
Bolsonaro's running mate, General Mourão, said that "the country inherited the indolence of the indigenous people and the cunning of the black people." In a single sentence, he dismissed two of the three pillars of Brazilian nationality: black and indigenous people. And he even asks for the votes of the majority black and indigenous population to be elected vice-president of the Republic.
This general, who advocates for the sale of the Amazon, also views with utter contempt the remaining populations after the extermination of our indigenous people and the descendants of the slave labor that, for three centuries, produced Brazil's wealth.
Demonstrating clear racist discrimination against the majority of the Brazilian population and a lack of patriotic sentiment, he, like his running mate who shares the same elitist positions, is not at all qualified to run for president of the Republic, much less to ask for votes from that same electorate, predominantly black and indigenous, which they so despise.
