Fifth circle of hell
A fifth of the "hells" insist on supporting Bolsonaro and expose the hypocrisy that threatens Brazilian democracy.
It's no surprise that the overwhelming majority of voters don't vote for candidates who support criminals. What is surprising is that, according to a recent Datafolha poll, a fifth of the "hells" (about 19% of voters) would certainly vote for whoever cleared Bolsonaro's name! If Lula's conviction hadn't been overturned, would they support any candidate who defended the Workers' Party leader? The hypocrisy of a significant portion of the population is enormous, and the far right is globally riding this wave. There were few people in the streets on that fateful Sunday, but there were people. Fascism and Nazism also started on the fringes—and look what happened.
In another, more recent Datafolha poll, the insistence is on tricky questions, far removed from reality, in which they wanted to know who was to blame for Donald Trump's tariff hikes, and the American president himself didn't appear as an option! In other words, they are hiding the main culprit to find another. In any case, they reinforced that 35% of Brazilians attribute the blame to Lula, while the most important data from this biased survey is that 65% do not blame the president for what is happening. That is, these 35% represent that fifth of hell plus one-sixth of the population, which is very well manipulated and will decide the course of the country and democracy next year.
September will be a month of flowers. Of roses, more specifically. But, beyond the color and aroma, it will bring thorns—and I hope the Supreme Court knows how to deal with them during the historic trial in which it will definitively imprison today's coup plotters, heirs to the coup plotters of always. This includes the former captain, already known to be a criminal since the time he broke military hierarchy, planned attacks on barracks and the Guandu (Rio de Janeiro) water supply system, and praised torturers in the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies. Thus, we would alleviate the fifth circle of hell in which we may come to live.
