"I want to be Quaquá's friend"

Valter Pomar says that "only magical realism" can explain the tolerance that the "majority group" of the PT's national leadership has "towards this citizen."

Federal deputy and national vice-president of the PT (Workers' Party), Washington Quaquá, has his moments of fury, especially against those he calls the "Ipanema left" and even against Bolsonaro supporters who disrupt his live streams.

But consistent evidence continues to emerge that, in reality, Quaquá is above all a good friend to good people going through difficult times.

Three pieces of evidence for this.

First, your photo with General Pazuello.

Second, his vote in the ethics committee of the Chamber of Deputies.

Third, your article defending Brazão.

Be careful that they don't assassinate Marielle again! - Washington Quaquá - Brazil 247

In his latest article, Quaquá wrote the following: “I have known Domingos Brazão for a long time, including from national election campaigns where he was on our side. Honestly, I don't believe he committed such brutality. I hope that the accusations against him are not validated based solely on the testimony of a murderer linked to Bolsonaro. It is essential that concrete evidence be presented to corroborate the testimony.”

In fact, a plea bargain is not proof.

In fact, everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

But let's be honest, you have to be a really good friend to publicly defend a citizen whose criminal record is like a chicken coop.

Of course, some say that behind such a display of friendship lies only calculation. Which calculation, they didn't tell me.

From my perspective, like almost everything in life, I think it could be, it always could be. But my fear is that it's just friendship.

That's why I'm thinking of producing, not a coat of arms, but a button with the inscription "I want to be Quaquá's friend".

This would be my acknowledgment of the fact that only magical realism can explain the tolerance that the PT – or, to be more precise, the majority group in its national leadership – continues to show towards this citizen.
