Who are the doctors from Barbosa who examined Genoíno?

A group of doctors, mostly professors, academics, or healthcare entrepreneurs, accepted Barbosa's game plan and prepared a document that is primarily "against" the defendant.

From the blog The Coffee

Cafezinho investigated who the doctors selected by Barbosa are to do a medical report that justifies bringing Genoíno back to Papuda. All previous reports indicated that it would be much safer for Genoíno to be treated at home. Barbosa was not satisfied and requested one last report, prepared by older doctors, mostly professors, academics, or healthcare entrepreneurs, who accepted Barbosa's game and prepared a document that is primarily "against" the defendant. It is the first time I have seen a medical board act deliberately, with terrifying coldness, with a view to sabotaging any treatment for Genoíno.

It's clear that Barbosa was careful. After replacing the judge, he chose five doctors perfectly suited to carry out his mission. Most are seasoned doctors with long academic careers and owners of private clinics. Barbosa didn't take any chances with idealistic youngsters. He only called on seasoned veterans.

Here they are. The names are: Luiz Fernando Junqueira Júnior, Cantídio Lima Vieira, Fernando Antibas Atik, Alexandre Visconti Brick, and Hilda Maria Benevides da Silva de Arruda.

Here is the information sheet for each one:

Luiz Fernando Junqueira Júnior, professor of cardiology at the University of Brasília and president of the board:

I managed to gather little information about him personally, but I did get some clues about the environment in which he lives. There is a Facebook page dedicated to the Luiz Fernando Junqueira Junior – Medicine UNB class.

The administrator is Paulo Machado Ribeiro Junior.

page Ribeiro Junior's account is full of accusations against Cuban doctors, hatred towards the PT (Workers' Party), and celebrations over the arrest of those involved in the Mensalão scandal. This is the group of the head of the board that examined Genoíno.

Cantídio Lima Vieira, cardiologist and specialist in medical expertise:

This guy has an interesting story. He's one of the "maharajas in white coats" of the Federal Senate. A doctor in the Senate's public service, Cantídio Lima Vieira owns private clinics that offer services to... senators. Whistleblowing The Istoé story was quickly silenced.

Excerpt from the article: "Two medical units run by employees operate in Sudoeste, another upscale neighborhood in Brasília. One of them belongs to Dr. Cantídio Lima Vieira (pictured). He has a stake in four other clinics. Two of them, Policlínica Planalto and Cordis, are service providers for the same medical association contracted by the Senate."

Fernando Antibas Atik, specialist in cardiovascular surgery:

Fernando Atik has a Twitter account with 16 followers, following 33 accounts. Of these 33, his only sources of information are Jornal Nacional, Globo, G1, Globonews, CBN, Veja, and the Federal Council of Medicine. His last two tweets were on November 16th, when he answered a question from Veja to its readers:

Alexandre Visconti Brick, professor of cardiovascular surgery:

This guy has a cool history. He was awarded the title of honorary citizen of Brasília through a nomination by district representative Junior Brunelli. Brunelli is the representative of the "bribery prayer," an exemplary religious figure.

Hilda Maria Benevides da Silva de Arruda is younger and has a more discreet practice. Like most Brazilian doctors, she hates the Mais Médicos program. And she makes a point of making that very clear in... your page on Facebook.

Of course, the assumption that Barbosa handpicked doctors with strong political antipathies against José Genoíno is just that, an assumption. However, the medical report seems negligent to me, because it points out some extremely fragile conditions of the patient but concludes that he can remain in prison. For example, the first item in the conclusion states, verbatim, that the patient must undergo periodic outpatient follow-up of his post-surgical condition.

The doctors' bad faith is already evident in the second item, where a contradiction is noticeable that, in my view, can only be inspired by malice. The doctors conclude that the defendant, who suffers from hypertension, should use continuous medication, and the treatment should include "a low-sodium diet, restriction of vigorous physical activity, regular practice of light to moderate aerobic physical activity, and restriction of stressful psychological factors." I repeat the final phrase: "restriction of stressful psychological factors." Even so, the doctors conclude that there is no need for the treatment to be done at home. Now, to conclude that an elderly man, under such heavy public exposure, in such a controversial trial, in which he considers himself innocent, will not become "stressed" in prison is to be what I call, with all due respect, a heartless and psychotic right-winger. If this stress occurs in a man who has just undergone surgery with less than a 10% chance of survival, then suggesting he can receive treatment in prison seems negligent and criminal to me.

All the conclusions are relatively the same, always repeating expressions like this:

I don't want to accuse any doctors. We live in a democracy, and everyone can write whatever they want on the virtual walls of their own networks.

I can't shake, however, the impression that Barbosa recruited doctors who were unsympathetic to the defendants simply to have them issue a report that would endorse his intentions to further humiliate José Genoíno. The report may contain true information, but the conclusion seems politically biased to me, against the defendant, against life, against the human being.
