painted a mood
Bolsonaro lies. Nothing he says should be taken seriously.
He is not worthy of the Presidency.
Sérgio Moro, January 10, 2022.
To the surprise of many, at the end of the presidential debate on BAND, the far-right candidate posed for the cameras with his former Minister of Justice, Sérgio Moro. On December 29th of last year, Moro also... former director An executive from the US consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal stated in an interview that he was dismissed by Bolsonaro for not interfering in investigations carried out by the Federal Police and the Federal Revenue Service, in order to protect his sons Zero One, Zero Two, Zero Three, and the First Lady Michelle. Most likely, he must have... "painted a climate" between them, as Bolsonaro likes to say, so that they can pose together and united at the end of yesterday's debate (16).
The far-right candidate's effort in the final five minutes, during which he was isolated to deliver his speech, was to mobilize his followers through the figures that make up his ideological repertoire. As the Italian thinker Antonio Gramsci (1891-1937) reminds us, an ideology is much more than a system of ideas and beliefs. It is inscribed in action logicsTherefore, its dimension is practical, aiming at practical results even though it is simultaneously cognitive and axiological. It seeks to connect with the symbolizations occurring in the everyday world of social classes, in order to produce forms of consciousness for the maintenance of the status quo.
In the final stage of the debate, instead of presenting his government platform, he dedicated himself to revisiting the religious question, the defense of the family, and criticism of gender diversity. As always, he resorted to lies, claiming that Lula is against religious freedom; he presented himself once again as a defender of the traditional Christian family, when he himself, Bolsonaro, is already on his fourth marriage, with children from three different women; in addition to trying to present himself as an example of a Christian, wavering between Catholicism and Protestantism. It should also be remembered that, in his authoritarian aberration, the Brazilian state should not be secular. but confessional.
Philosopher Márcia Tiburi, on her Twitter page on October 17th, highlights the chronic falsehood of the candidate who defends the traditional family, revealing that the couple Michele and Jair are hiding their eldest daughter, whom she had with a married man before her current relationship, in order to maintain the image of a conservative evangelical family. And, according to Juliana Dal Piva's book, “"Jair's Business" (Zahar Publishing House, 2022), The result of more than three years of investigation, aimed at uncovering the secret past of the iconic Brazilian far-right family, is that Bolsonaro began his affair with her while he was married, constituting infidelity to his previous wife and making Michele his mistress.
Therefore, yesterday's debate on BAND ratified the structural contradictions that underpin the candidacy of the Brazilian far-right: a power project based on lies, hatred of those who are different, an inability to embrace cultural diversity, the exacerbation of individualism to the detriment of solidarity and civic fraternity, the encouragement of a culture of violence (arms sales) and the law of the strongest, in total subservience to the United States, stifling any dream of national sovereignty in the multipolar geopolitical arena, in addition to cultivating enmities and tensions with sister countries of the Latin American continent.
This was the climate painted through the ideological tactics of Bolsonaro the Fascists. It is up to the voters, on the 30th, to categorically reject this authoritarianism, send Bolsonaro back home, so that Brazil can resume the path of participatory, inclusive and distributive democracy.
