To secure support for his reelection, Bolsonaro is sacrificing the Brazilian people.
Bolsonaro managed to quantify and explicitly state the amount earlier this week in his secret budget for 2022.
How many trillions of reais are needed to buy support in the National Congress? That was a difficult question to answer, even though we knew it involved a lot of money. But Bolsonaro managed to quantify and disclose the amount earlier this week in his secret budget for 2022.
Without the slightest scruple, the country's leader distributed approximately R$ 16,48 billion in funds to his political allies without authorization and, as the name suggests, in a secretive manner, without any transparency or oversight.
Members of Parliament from the PL, PP, and Republicanos parties, the three that form the support base for the former captain, were awarded R$ 901 million. This is without considering that the trio already moves R$ 149,6 billion, due to their control of 32 key positions within the federal administration.
But the gravy train doesn't stop there. The debunked myth maintained the electoral fund at R$ 4,96 billion for this year, more than double the amount allocated for the 2020 elections, so as not to displease supporters.
The problem is that this money would have to come from somewhere, because Brazil isn't getting any richer. So, our esteemed president decided to cut federal public investments, which, as already announced, will be the lowest in our history.
With his priorities inverted, the head of state cut R$ 802,6 million from the Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Labor and Social Security suffered a cut of R$ 1 billion. In Health, the blow was R$ 74,2 million. This is without even mentioning the alarming reductions in the budget allocated to scientific research, among other sectors that were severely affected.
Always applying double standards, Bolsonaro maintained the authorization for spending R$ 1,7 billion on salary adjustments for civil servants, with which he intends to reward the police forces, his most loyal electoral supporters.
And so, Jair intends to spend his last months in office, always stealing from the poor and giving to the rich, much like a reverse Robin Hood.
But this horror story is coming to an end, because it will be at the ballot box that we will deliver the deserved payback. When, finally, completely demoralized and alone, Bolsonaro will quietly return home and be erased, once and for all, from the political history of Brazil.
