Paying four salaries in two months is no small feat.

Even with a monstrous debt of R$ 530 million left by João Alves Filho, Mayor Edvaldo Nogueira managed to find a solution to regularize the payment of salaries for Aracaju's public employees.

Even with a monstrous debt of R$ 530 million left by João Alves Filho, Mayor Edvaldo Nogueira managed to find a solution to regularize the payment of salaries for Aracaju's city employees. In addition to already receiving their January and February salaries on time, city workers will be able to access their outstanding December salary in a single installment through a loan, without any financial hardship.

The idea was presented by Edvaldo to all the Health unions last Friday (20) and reveals the administrative capacity of the new mayor: in just over 60 days, he will have paid four payrolls – in addition to the December, January and February salaries, there is the 13th salary, which was left as an inheritance by the former mayor, but which has already been paid by the current manager in the first 10 days of the government.

The measure, which creates no difficulties for the employees, regularizes a payroll that had been compromised for over a year. Furthermore, Edvaldo reverses the payment order, prioritizing payments to Health and Education employees. Under João Alves' administration, Health workers didn't even know when they would receive their paychecks.

On social media, Edvaldo's announcement was widely celebrated. But it's obvious that the opposition – namely Valadares Filho and his (very) limited group – tried to create yet another fabricated story on the subject. Even with the mayor announcing a payment schedule that ends on the 5th business day of the following month, something that even respects labor laws, his opponents accuse the new mayor of not fulfilling his campaign promises. Pure fallacy!

The proof that the opposition's discourse didn't resonate is that Valadares Filho's Facebook post was heavily criticized. Even among his followers, the regularization of public servants' salary payments was praised. The defeated candidate in the last election was slammed on his own internet page.

The internet user, an ordinary citizen, commented on something obvious, but which the opposition is trying to undermine: Edvaldo will quickly solve a chronic problem left by João Alves. Speaking of the former mayor, many recalled that the now "combative" Valadares Filho did not have the same impetus for action when the city was spiraling uncontrollably towards chaos during the past four years.
