A critical vote for Dilma
Given this scenario and the rise of conservative politicians in the National Congress, I could not remain indifferent. I will vote, critically, for Dilma to prevent the return of a conservative project with which I have no identification whatsoever.
I have deep criticisms of the PT governments and, specifically, of Dilma Rousseff's administration. Despite this, I believe that the return of the PSDB to the Presidency of the Republic would be a huge setback for the country.
A PSDB government represents the return of a conservative elite and an economic policy detrimental to workers and the poorest population. PSDB administrations have neglected public universities, dismantled the state, left public employees without raises, suppressed wages, and caused mass unemployment.
Aécio's victory signifies the triumph of an elitist project, the criminalization of social movements, the reduction of the age of criminal responsibility, the privatization of the prison system, and a regression in international politics. The promotion of social justice has never been and never will be a priority for the PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party).
Given this scenario and the rise of conservative politicians in the National Congress, I could not remain indifferent. I will vote, critically, for Dilma to prevent the return of a conservative project with which I have no identification whatsoever.
PSOL and I will continue to provide left-wing opposition to the federal government, pressing for agrarian reform, political reform, democratization of the media, demilitarization of the police, decriminalization of drugs, and defense of LGBT rights to be prioritized.
