The macho Tchutchuca
By Eric Nepomuceno, for 247
There is not even a trace of intelligence in Jair Messias. In contrast, there is ample evidence that he is clever, very clever indeed. There is an abundance of cleverness in the vast emptiness of his mind.
How then can the aggression against journalist Amanda Klein be justified, especially on Jovem Pan, the official broadcaster of Bolsonaro's supporters?
Jair Messias and his entourage know that it is precisely among female voters that he is floundering the most. They also know that, among the media outlets, Jovem Pan, and especially a program called "Pingo nos is," is his most loyal and submissive platform.
So how, with election day so close – and, it's worth repeating, women make up more than half of the electorate – does he go astray again? Isn't his history of offensive remarks against women, hurled indiscriminately even at supporters (perhaps now somewhat regretful) of the movements that paved the way for him to get where he is today, starting with the infamous Lava Jato operation, enough?
I can only find one explanation for why Jair Messias's cleverness is failing so often: desperation.
Like all cowards, when cornered, the leader, who is hopelessly unbalanced, becomes desperate. And, in desperation, he resorts to attack, especially when the target is a woman.
My masochism doesn't extend so far as to make me follow the escapades of Amanda Klein and company at Jovem Pan. I suppose she's there to serve as a kind of timid counterweight to the unanimous fawning of the rest of the group towards Jair Messias.
That's all I suspected about her until now. Now I'm finding out she's married and her husband votes – or used to vote – for Jair Messias.
Regarding the president, nothing new. The "Centrist's darling" continues to act tough when facing women, and runs away when facing men, unless it's a reporter. Then he acts tough, because he knows he's surrounded by bodyguards.
Jair Messias's desperation becomes more palpable every day. His and his entire clan's. The clan, in fact, and those close to him: ex-wives, ex-brother-in-law, brothers, sisters, a whole host of people involved in what is the gang's main skill: multiplying money whose origin is unknown.
Or rather: everyone knows. And that's why the mere mention of the word "kickback scheme" causes Jair Messias to abandon his shrewdness and plunge into a spiral of loss of control.
Between now and the election, there will certainly be more explosions of pure despair. Let's hope it all remains just words.
