Ciro Gomes's depressing role as he bids farewell to public life, now serving Bolsonaro's ideology.

No one in their right mind in the country fails to recognize Ciro Gomes' level of intellectual training, with a clear demonstration of knowing how to act in public affairs. However, in recent times, especially during this phase of his candidacy, all the legacy of the past is self-destructing as he assumes a position of subservience to Bolsonarism.

To understand Ciro's macro-level process, it's necessary to analyze his stance in Ceará, his home state and the main base of his life, as he nurtured and was responsible for the implosion of a dense political pact between the PDT and PT parties by deciding, in the style of the Old Colonel he so vehemently opposed, that the candidate would be Roberto Cláudio and not the natural reelection of Governor Izolda Cela. Worse still, the senator and mayor of Sobral are now against him.

This minor aspect, however, is merely a symptom of Ciro Gomes' political downfall, now focused on attacking Lula in the vain attempt to grow by serving Bolsonarism. A sad end for a figure who was once qualified enough to avoid such a performance. He has become too small.

Signs from the past

In 2018, Lula even hinted at a possible alliance between Ciro and Fernando Haddad, but the abrupt and uncivilized reaction from the Ceará native shattered the conditions for an agreement because the PDT member only accepts what is in his best interest, not what constitutes a healthy political compromise.

He thus assumed the profile of a Colonel.

Since then, although the PT (Workers' Party) was producing a form of political renewal, Ciro decided to rebel against Haddad and the PT by abstaining from the second round. It is now perfectly understood that, even in 2018, Ciro was serving the far right, the same role he plays now.

Moreover, Lula's return in the current process is a result of reality demanding that the former president make one last political contribution, given that he was the most affected by the 2016 coup and was the most prepared of all the presidential candidates. Ciro knows this, but he allowed his foolish vanity to destroy historical common sense.

Sad end

It is absolutely unthinkable that, in the past, we could have witnessed such a political regression from someone who hinted at modern practices, but in reality produces means to support ideological regression, as revealed by the mainstream media reporting that Bolsonaro is betting everything on supporting the growth of the PDT candidate in order to prevent Lula's victory in the first round.

In short, history is proving that it even repeats itself, as in the case of Ciro, reminiscent of Carlos Lacerda, who originated on the left but later joined the right, after being the instigator of Getúlio's suicide, supported the 1964 coup, later regretting it but ultimately failing due to his inconsistency.

Brizolistas are already joining Lula.

Regardless of Ciro, the grassroots Brizola supporters from Rio and Rio Grande do Sul, led by Leonel Brizola Neto, announce their support for Lula in a movement for strategic voting to undermine Ciro's campaign supporting Bolsonaro in an event next Wednesday.

In short, Ciro Gomes is reaching the end of his once brilliant career, but today he's hit rock bottom by serving solely and exclusively the Bolsonaro movement.

It's dying politically for good, and the way it's been presented won't make the slightest difference.

Given the current reality, there is no other way – “Out with Ciro Gomes!”
