Anyone who hasn't yet seen the documentary "The Day That Lasted 21 Years" should watch it. Especially because it contains a beautiful historical account of how the civil-military coup was orchestrated and carried out in Brazil, highlighting the role of the US in the coup and its funding of parliamentarians and civilian groups formed to mount a fierce and aggressive opposition to the government of the time (João Goulart and his social base), with the aim of weakening and destabilizing it. At the same time, the US instigated the military to carry out the coup, under the justification of a "red menace" (always this argument to justify coups here in Brazil!).

With the end of the "years of lead," apparently, but only apparently, the traumatic events experienced during them would be remembered as a sad and tragic experience in Brazilian history, so that something of the kind would never "repeat" again. Dictatorship never again! People persecuted, imprisoned, and murdered for their political positions, never again! Unfortunately, that is not what happened! (Therefore, even today, it is necessary to elucidate some cases and hold those involved accountable, as Chile and Argentina did).

Well, for the 2016 coup (the impeachment farce), once again a network was set up with the goal of destabilizing Dilma Rousseff's government. The attacks and accusations were diverse, both against the government and against the main leaders of the PT – accused of being terrorists, communists, gang members, corrupt, among others. This network was composed of the groups Revoltados Online, Vem para Rua and, mainly, the MBL (there are others that we haven't mentioned). There are strong suspicions that they received funding from parliamentarians and external sources as well.

Let's briefly revisit the MBL's discourse. They, especially Kim Kataguiri and Fernando Holiday, claimed that the Free Brazil Movement (if it was free, it meant they were imprisoned, of course...) was non-partisan, that it fought against corruption and, of course, against the "gang in power." In reality, it was serving economic and political groups aligned with neoliberalism. They deceived many people... The two mentioned above are now politicians!

And what about the anti-corruption rhetoric? It's been eroded by the recent news that MBL members were arrested for money laundering. Well, look at that... Money laundering (See: https://noticias.uol.com.br/cotidiano/ultimas-noticias/2020/07/10/operacao-juno-moneta-pessoas-ligadas-ao-mbl-presas.htm?cmpid=copiaecolaThere's more to it, and it will come to light! Now Holiday and Kataguiri are saying that Alessander Mônaco Ferreira and Carlos Augusto de Moraes Afonso were not members of the movement. At this point, they've learned from those politicians they both criticized.

The MBL has always been a political movement seeking to promote its leaders and has contributed significantly to the spread of fake news and the feeling of hatred that culminated in Bolsonaro's election and the climate of intolerance that has taken hold in the country.

And now one of its leaders, Kim Kataguiri, has explicitly stated his true colors: defending Nazism. Corruption, racism, and Nazism (there's more, but let's stop here!) are in the MBL's DNA.

The good thing is that they can't fool anyone anymore!
