Globo's editorial: fool me, I like it.

Dilma needs to fight against the 16th, when the media will once again try to throw millions into the streets demanding not only her head, but the heads of all progressives and the entire left, given that these are eminently fascist marches.

After Merval Pereira confirm According to Cafezinho's scoop that Eduardo Cunha was at Globo's headquarters last Monday, in a closed-door meeting with the newspaper's editors, we had a difficult week (to say the least) for the Workers' Party.

Informant Milton Pascowitch, a lobbyist for construction companies, made numerous accusations against José Dirceu and tarnished the Workers' Party (PT). Many of the stories recounted by Pascowitch are old, but Globo took advantage of the political crisis created by Dirceu's imprisonment to reheat everything.

It's August at its most vibrant!

And then, when the government and the Workers' Party (PT) were on the ropes, with financial market websites spreading rumors about Dilma Rousseff's resignation, and the New York Times... suggesting delivery "The crown belongs to Michel Temer," Globo publishes. an editorial criticizing Eduardo Cunha and urging responsible politicians from all parties to provide "governability to the Planalto Palace".

An editorial clearly against the coup. Exactly the opposite of what Merval Pereira, for example, has been preaching day in and day out, who has already made heavy criticisms of the PSDB precisely because some of its members are still concerned with simple things like economic stability and governability.

But the reception to the article by sectors of the PT (Workers' Party) can be described by the phrase: "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

Globo's power to create crises and then quell them has never been greater.

That's how the Marinho family managed to become the richest in the country.

What can we think in a situation like this? It's not difficult to speculate:

1) Globo has devised a strategy to shield itself from accusations of coup-mongering. In other words, it promotes coup-mongering to the extreme, is behind the entire game of carefully manipulated and leaked testimonies and news, but doesn't want to force a coup before the 16th. In reality, it's not very different from the strategy of '64. The coup plotters knew they had to offer demonstrations of popular support, and that's why they organized the marches against the government that preceded the '64 coup.

2) Globo is satisfied with the current situation. José Dirceu destroyed, Lula weakened, fascist movements on the rise. The network has never had so much political power. For them, it's better to keep it that way. An impeachment process, an excessive destabilization, would unleash uncontrollable forces. The pressure from large industrial groups, who would be the first to be swept away in a context of economic and political chaos, may have convinced Globo not to go ahead with its coup-mongering.

ScreenHunter_6059 Aug. 08 09.10Cartoon on the cover of this week's O Globo newspaper. Any doubt about the Marinho family's intentions? 3) Globo is convinced that it now has the elements to destroy Lula politically, and thus eliminate any risk of the PT remaining in power. Furthermore, the conservative hegemony in the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Federal Police, and the Judiciary seems quite consolidated, which also gives Globo the security to maintain its strategy of permanent siege.

4) The acceptance of a plea bargain by Renato Duque and several other defendants, possibly even Marcelo Odebrecht, plus the blatant confession by Dirceu's own brother that he received a monthly payment of R$ 30 from lobbyist Milton Pascowitch, gives Globo ammunition to create an atmosphere conducive to impeachment without requiring its editorial involvement in the endeavor. The impeachment could be carried out "against Globo's wishes," thus shielding it from unpleasant accusations of being a coup plotter.

5) Lava Jato achieved yet another feat, which greatly benefits Globo. Lobbyist and informant Milton Pascowitch said that one of the agreements with the PT was to transfer R$ 120 to Leonardo Attuch, of Editora 247, responsible for the Brasil 247 website. Attuch admits to having received the money, explaining that it was for services rendered. However, in terms of image, the website's reputation has been tarnished, and Globo is repeating this information with considerable emphasis. In fact, the Brasil 247 website has been important in defending the government, so its disrepute further weakens the government and the PT, and gives Globo even more power.

6) The last hypothesis is that Globo was actually convinced by big business and governors that a coup would not be advantageous. The country would lose economic, political, and social stability for a long time. A coup via the TCU (Federal Court of Accounts) or TSE (Superior Electoral Court) would create a dangerous precedent. No governor or mayor would have the security of finishing their term because they practice "fiscal maneuvers" infinitely worse than Dilma's, and receive donations from much more suspicious and corrupt businessmen.

In this gloomy month of August, in my view, the least opportune, least prudent stance is to remain "optimistic".

Globo's retreat could be like the receding of the sea in the moments leading up to a tsunami.

Dilma, meanwhile, participates in the inauguration out of 700 houses in Roraima.

Moreover, Dilma's statements offer a glimpse into how the president thinks, and explain her behavior.

After defending the value of the vote, in an explicit reference to the opposition's attempts to seize power without winning elections, she added: “Throughout my life I have gone through many difficult moments. I am a person who can withstand pressure. I am a person who can withstand threats. In fact, I have survived great threats to my own life.”

Bingo!

Dilma transformed the Planalto Palace into a kind of apparatus, where she hides, resisting "pressure," enduring "threats." In the midst of the crisis, her mind reverted to that of a guerrilla fighter from the 60s, and not to that of a public figure, the ultimate political representative of all Brazilians, who needs to confront the crisis by engaging in politics through a major communications offensive.

Or worse: Dilma acts as if she were imprisoned, under torture, under "threat," and that the bravest possible stance is to remain silent. That's not true, Dilma. Right now, you hold the sacred pen of the republic's power in your hands. The most heroic thing to do is use it!

There is no other solution. Dilma needs to gather her most loyal ministers, the hard core of her parliamentary bloc, unite the organized social movements, and build a common political agenda. And announce this agenda before the 16th, the date set for the start of the coup.

Dilma needs to fight against the 16th, when the media will once again try to throw millions into the streets demanding not only her head, but the heads of all progressives and the entire left, since these are eminently fascist marches.

To do this, she needs to build her agenda, as I've already said, and help strengthen August 20th, when social movements will come out in her defense.
