Globo's attack on the judge who tried to free Admiral Othon.

Any judge who appeals to common sense and tries to free a gentleman over 80, with an exemplary life history, from the dungeons of the Rio de Janeiro branch of Operation Lava Jato, is attacked by the reputation-destroying machine of the mainstream media.

Judge Ivan Athié, of the Federal Court of the 2nd Region (Rio and Espírito Santo), defended the freedom of Admiral Othon Luiz Pinheiro, former president of Eletronuclear and the greatest nuclear physicist in Brazilian history.

Athié tried to use common sense. The admiral, like any great scientist, sold consulting services on the subject in which he was an expert.

For Lava Jato, however, the Admiral's knowledge is worthless. So any money he received from companies was considered a bribe.

In Brazil, the justice system obeys solely and exclusively the directives of Globo.

Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who was nominated to serve on the Supreme Court, received R$ 4 million from JHSF, a company accused of corruption by the Federal Police. Moraes presented no documents proving the service was rendered, and yet the Judiciary and the media did not accuse him of anything.

Admiral Othon didn't have such goodwill. And any judge who appeals to common sense and tries to free a gentleman over 80, with an exemplary life history, from the dungeons of the Rio de Janeiro sub-Lava Jato operation, is attacked by the reputation-destroying machine of the mainstream media.

Lauro Jardim's note takes Judge Athié's statement out of context and portrays him as a crude man who tries to "legalize" corruption.

Note that the article begins with an adjective: the "controversial judge".

In other words, he's not just any judge. He's a "controversial judge."

The Lava Jato and media consortium does this all the time. A minister of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), Marcelo Navarro Dantas, who tried to curb the abuses of Lava Jato, was massacred by the mainstream media and then became the target of malicious and illegal leaks from the operation itself, which cannot tolerate any kind of criticism.

Athié is absolutely right. The regime of exception wants to criminalize life, but only that life which dares to exist outside the protected area of Globo.

Judge from the TRF-2 (Regional Federal Court of the 2nd Region) proposes that bribes from the Lava Jato corruption scandal be taken into account.

BY GUILHERME AMADO 24/02/2017 08:25

The controversial judge Ivan Athié (pictured), of the Federal Regional Court of the 2nd Region (Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo), shocked those present on Wednesday at the session in which the request to revoke the arrest of Admiral Othon Luiz Pinheiro, former president of Eletronuclear, was being judged.

Shortly before voting to revoke the arrest (he was isolated, with a score of 2 to 1), Athié said:

— We need to start reviewing these investigations. Now, everything is bribery. Isn't it time we admitted that some of this money was just a gratuity, a tip? The word "propina" comes from Spanish. It means tip. Could it have been nothing more than a gratuity given to a public servant who served us well, like paying a waiter who served us well? These investigations are criminalizing life.
