New time
"This is the time, and this trip to China initiates this new process not only in Brazil, but hopefully, throughout the planet," says Paiva.
The task for Lula's government and all other democratic governments that follow will be enormous. Changing this mentality of violence, cunning, and getting ahead at any cost will be a very complicated task. Violence in police approaches, violence in the streets, in traffic, in domestic life manifests itself every day, and we are realizing that this was part of a very clear project to end politics, the law, democracy, and any civilizing process that attempts to regulate society. Every day we discover new ways of acting by the clan and its henchmen, and even those who still coexist in the so-called democratic environment still try to enforce their lack of principles. Others have disappeared, thankfully, but the law in a democratic regime, and especially in Brazil, takes some time to satisfy our natural desires for revenge. We want them to pay for what they did to the country, of course, but we have to be patient and let the process unfold without relaxing. Bolsonaro will be judged for several crimes. They didn't expect to leave the government. Now they are scrambling to survive by exploiting incompetence. A right wing, even an extreme one, remains, but it's smart enough to know that things have changed. They need to demonstrate their democratic principles so that a society that fluctuates with the wind doesn't sideline them. Although this right wing in Brazil relies on conservatism, a lack of schools, and the presence of the state, a significant portion of it determines the government's direction. This is what happened in the last elections, and it's now up to Lula's government to fight against this mentality that still persists. It's difficult to be patient with a biased and partly venal justice system that delays trials. It's difficult to be patient with a violent and corrupt police force, also partly corrupt, that allows itself to be driven by disorder and even self-doubt in order to survive.
We are facing a moment of great transformation in the world. Hegemonic powers are giving way to emerging countries that are now finding space to express themselves. The environment and its preservation are becoming more than necessary, they are urgent. Brazil's role is enormous at this time and is...
I need to act quickly so that reactionary forces don't reorganize to attack democracy again. Trump has already shouted from there, and as long as they give him a voice, he will continue. Bolsonaro needs to be silenced, or at least made ineligible, so that his power diminishes. Lula needs to work very well with his entire team so that this country changes its way of thinking. We need to act collectively. And we need to have love for our neighbor allied with the social project that will implement these changes. We need to think that together we are stronger and that this individualism only serves the right wing and fascism, which has no project aimed at the well-being of the population. This is the time, and this trip to China begins this new process not only in Brazil, but hopefully, throughout the planet.
